Wirelessly posted

I live in a non 3g area and it works just fine. When I go anywhere but here I get 3g and it clicks right over. Never even had a dropped call

Ok if your network isnt 3G and they are offering the Bold, then I call them stupid, BUT it wont have any effect on it.
You just change the option to 2G in the network settings, and there, it wont even bother looking for a 3G signal.

The dropped calls are to do with changing between 3G and EDGE constantly, not the Bold having problems with EDGE, but the bold having problems with 3G. This mainly happens on AT&T bolds, as they have blocked the option to switch to 2G only.
secondly, in most cases its not the sim card. anyone that has had a new phone or contract service who has had a new sim card in the last 2-3 years has been given a 3g capable sim card.

and thirdly, the bold, and infact all phones, are designed to work on the standard 2G GSM network. 3G as a network is like an add on of wi-fi.
sure the device has been made to work with it, but its not been made to ONLY work on it.

I sometimes travel to non-3G areas and have had no trouble switching over (I have AT&T). The switch is seamless.

It won't matter if they're in a non-3G area, it will just stick to EDGE/2G.
