But, no BlackBerry data plan, you can't create a BlackBerry ID.

Not that it matters when you don't have a data plan, but Protect comes installed and the version on app world is not compatible for now. There will eventually be an upgrade on app world, as there was for the podcasts app just the other day.
Yeah, this Blackberry protect is totally a useless point!!

why in the first time they create this? to prevent our data become stolen?

ok, say you lost your phone, most or 99,9% the simcard will be inside the phone, the thief can just copy the data (back up) or manually copy the data using note pad and a pen.
after that, throw the sim card, use new one, do the wipe and voila you get a free blackberry that working with new sim card.... basically what is the point RIM use this feature?

stupid RIM, no wonder its market share goes down! they getting stupider and stupider every time....

No, it isn't stupid. BlackBerry Protect can help you locate your phone if it is lost or stolen. Also, you should have a password on your device with a short timeout so that if your device is lost or stolen a thief cannot get your data.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Also, how do you fit a BMW X6 in your pocket?
