I would love a drop in charger for the 8300 that could be used w/o a case!

All this does is literally hold the BB in the cradle? You plug your USB into the cradle then plug the cradle's cable in the BB?

If the above is the case then this is just as silly as the stands that used to come with the BlueBerry's and some of the other BB's a few yrs ago.

If you look at the picture of the 8100 cradle in the link, you'll see there is a USB connector on the back of the cradle.

Which I saw and stated in my post. So all this cradle is is just a holder for the BB for someone who doesn't want their BB laying on a table/desk/floor?

Waste of $30 if you ask me...

No. You dont have to plug the USB cable into the side of the BlackBerry. It uses the recharging contacts, which are the brass colored metal contacts to the left and right of the locking button for the battery door. Its more convenient because you can just quickly drop it into the cradle without having to mess with the cable to the side of the BB. For me, this would be nice because I am often in the dark at night trying to feel the cable into the usb hole in the curve. With this, I can just drop it in there. Much more convenient.

I remember back in the day when ALL PDA units came with a cradle standard, and only the cheap units were missing one. This would be a nice addition.

When in the cradle, will a bluetooth connection be possible to transfer media files? I've had problems with the flimsy usb port since my 7100.

How quick we are to make comments that show that you . . . . .

Look at the back of your curve and notice the two gold colored contacts next to the back release button. Guess what they are! It may not sync but at the end of the day you just drop it in and it charges.

As delicate as the USB connector is, this item is likely a good idea!

An excellent idea! I'm not interested in getting one but it's great to know that it's out there AND that the BB can stay in the case!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Blackberry has their own model out, the charging pod. I think it looks better than this one although it may not fit the Seido oversized battery.

There's a thread in the hardware forum on the charging pod.

The RIM offering is something like $100.00 though. This one will be closer to $30.00, and it will charge my Curve with the Seidio case on, something else the RIM version likely won't be able to do.
