Default Few updating questions

Please Login to Remove!

What is the difference between updating firmware directly on your mobile via wireless updater and updating it by connecting your mobile to your PC?

Can updating firmware affect email settings, my email is set up with Blackberry Enterprise Server?

Can updating firmware cause loss of data, emails, contacts, calendar appointments, etc?

Why doesn't this forum use Blackberry© naming convention

It's a "Curve 8520"

That's what Blackberry call *their* phone on all documentation, in the manual and stamped on the back of the actual phone itself. The name 'Gemini' is not recognised by Blackberry© and consequently by anyone else. Unless it's suppose to be some sorta secret handshake to an elite club.

Whats the difference: Wireless updater will only update the latest OS from your carrier.
Desktop manager, you can download and install the latest from ANY carrier and install it via the instructions in the "latest OS" thread at the top of your device forum.

Updating it will need you to re-activate Enterprise (basically set it up like it you did originally) which may mean contacting your BES admin.

Only if you don't make sure its checked to do the data backup before hand (or you do a backup) if it does the backup, it will then restore it.

This forum is in no way connected with RIM whatsoever. We are a group of volunteers trying to help BB users answer questions and solve problems.

Take a look at the device specific forums. Gemini was RIM's code name for the 8500. All of the other names for the various devices are there too. And there are several flavors of the Curve - 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, not just one.

RIM = Research in Motion and the maker of the Blackberry

My point being it'll only ever be known as Curve for 99% of owners = forum name is bit confusing - i was subscribed to wrong forum until last week - makes you wonder how people have attempted to put wrong software on their 'curve'

.

Well, at least one person is confused....
And it's not DubDub.

If you don't like the names of the devices, or their development nicknames, please contact Research in Motion, the maker of the BlackBerry. They are sometimes referred to as RIM.

[email address] is their e-mail address.

Gemini is not "the name of the device", that's my point. It's shame you think it is

We aren't going to get anywhere arguing over or discussing the name of the device. We aren't going to get it changed, we aren't going to resolve anything. Suffice to say you have a BB 8520.

The bottom line; did you question get answered?

He doesn't know what RIM is. But (as stated in another thread, he's a programmer).

Can't even Google.. blackberry gemini - Google Search

Development name. Just because you don'tknow what it means doesn't bring everyone else down.

Sorry for interupting but thats the same as asking people why do they use the term "google it" instead of "search the internet through the internet searching page called Google"....
