I just installed the latest OS - and it still doesn't have the "Press enter key to send" option.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Why are you pressing the enter key anyway, if you aren't wanting to send the message?

Often times when I send a text message, it's more than a one sentence or I want more structure than a small paragraph. So I don't want to be limited to sending the the text before I'm finished.

It's just the way I write.

Try from the Main Menu> Options (press O if dial from HomeScreen is not set)> SMS Text> "Press Enter Key To Send" : this IS on 5.0.0.344, but not on .351). I also don't see this in Messages>Options on either firmware version.

I guess TonyTone is sending Concantenated SMS', thus the need for paragraph seperation. Either that or he/she ~ Tone can be a girls name ~ is using a different language where its not properly translated or understood without proper seperation ??? Just a poor guess.

As someone who's been using a Pearl for the past 2.5 years and just upgraded to a 9700, this change really bothers me. I've already sent unfinished texts accidentally. While I'm sure it's partly a matter of getting used to it, I am strongly opposed to being able to send texts with one button press (especially when that button is directly adjacent to the backspace key, for crying out loud..) I also personally really like and often take advantage of the ability to insert line returns in text messages (which I realize you can still do with shift-enter). If RIM is going to change the fundamental operation of a feature that many people have been using every day for years, at least provide the option to keep it like it was.

The option to send with "Enter/Return" can be turned off.

Menu - Settings - Options - SMS Text

Once you get into SMS text, you`ll then see the option for "press enter key to send" and just change it to "No"

thats all.

Left shift + Return has worked perfectly for me in the last several OS releases. I like to be able to send when I hit return because it is fast and easy. But sometimes I want the extra line in an SMS. Very nice to easily be able to do this without having to go in and screw around with switching options.

I think you should live with [Right Shift+Enter] on this one.
