Default Which Blackberry To Get?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to these forums.

I actually currently own an iPhone 4. It's a good phone and all, but I've been with the iPhone for 3 years now and I think its time for a change.

Even with my iPhone, I mainly call, txt, hotmail, photo, facebook and cyworld(korean facebook sorta). I play the occasional game here and there when I'm bored, but its not that important.

I have been looking into Blackberries, and I thought I'd switch to the torch 9800. I looked online, tried to compare torch vs iphone4, but every review seems to be biased and therefore I couldn't get a good opinion.

What do you guys think I should switch to?

Thanks in advance~

And you somehow think you will get an unbiased opinion here!? You do realize that this is a BlackBerry Forum right?

Well ...... I for one would honestly recommend the BlackBerry Torch. Over the past 10 years I've used an assortment of devices on several different platforms ...... BlackBerries have proven to be a solid and reliable platform. Hardware has pretty solid and I think it holds its own against most other devices on the market.

But in the end it always comes down to user preference.

First of all, welcome to BBF.

Second of all, a BB isn't an iPhone. It has different features and different roles. I used an iPhone for about a year before coming back to the BB. Been using BBs for about 10+ years I guess.

Here are my thoughts, not those of pundits or others. The iPhone is built around multimedia and the touch screen experience. The BB 9800 is buuilt around business uses, mainly email and PIM functions. The web is OK but it isn't of the iPhone quality.

Judging by how you say you will use it, there are better devices out there, i.e. Android, the iPhone even, and probably Windows Mobile 7 devices. I just can't see that you'd be happy with a BB. You won't use the features that the BB is strongest for, but you will be paying the charge of a BB data plan not to use them.

Actually I really like the BB and coming to a BB to ask which device to get will almost all the time you'll hear get a BB. But being realistic, it isn't for everyone.

I tend to tell things as I see them, that is what I get paid to do as a consultant, and what I tend to do here. It never works to tell someone what you think they want to hear. You need to call 'em as you see 'em.

Indeed depends what's important, if you prefer multimedia then go with iPhone.

If you prefer staying in touch communication wise and email is very important to you go with BlackBerry. most Wireless carriers give you a 30 bring it back trial nowadays, you can always try Blackberry and if you don't like bring it back after a week.

Just make sure your wireless provider will allow that.

I think you will find most long time people on this Forum are going to be honest and offer advise with a clear suggestion on information offered by the OP. Yes people here use BB's but just about everyone has had other phones to compair and generally say so.

Read the threads in Torch 9800 subforum. There you will find everything from the user's perspective - the good, the bad, and the ugly...
That should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from Torch.
