Default Strange icon - See Attached

Please Login to Remove!

I've noticed a new strange icon on my 7520. Its in the position where the voicemail icon usualy appears but its a checkbox and the number 2 is beside it. It only appears when the standby screen kicks in and as soon as I hit a button or scroll the wheel it disappears. Has anyone else every seen this? Also, I've noticed the Bluetooth icon appear right above the box a couple of times. Strange and it just started a week or 2 ago, nothing new installed.

You would think that maybe it was a task or something with the checkbox but that's not it, I don't have any tasks. Thanks for any help you can provide!

(sorry for not having a clearer picture)

Dawg, I'm not following you. If I open mail on my Blackberry I'm seeing my email, nothing else. Also, like I mentioned, the icon, along with the "2" disappears as soon as I do anything (click button, scroll mouse, etc). Its only there during my standby screen.

Not that I'm aware of, where would I find that if I had one? And why do these icons disappear as soon as I scroll the wheel?

I'm not seeing anything. I don't have calendar reminders, no overdue tasks, no browser push messages that I can see. It continues to say "2" and it continues to disappear as soon as I hit any button to clear the stand by screen.

maybe i'm being simple, but have you pulled the battery or done a soft reset yet and then checked to see if it was still there?

I had the same problem. I spoke to Telus and they had no idea what was casuing it. ItiI ended up upgrading my 7250 to 4.02 and the problem went away. As the device was wiped when I performed the upgrade, I am not sure if it was the wipe or the upgrade...

I'm already running 4.02 and didn't notice it until a couple weeks ago. Truly strange, no biggie, just odd. Yes, I've booted, no luck.

Hi all, I'm new here and I'm having a very similar icon show up, a little different, but in the same location. It looks like a MS Word file icon with a down arrow in it and the number "-1" to the left of the icon. I've attached a picture. Any ideas?

Cool, do you know what that means? Do I need to do something about it? How do I get rid of it?

I have exactly the same problem with my 7250 from Bell Mobility. Tried removing all of my calendars items, tasks, notes. Nothing cleared this. Took out the battery and reinserted, icon was gone, but only temporarily. The next day it was there again. Others in my office with the same BB don't have this icon on their units.

We are using BES 4.x

JAMEAND - your icon is definately a push icon. Why it has a -1 beside it is unclear. There have been problems in the past with software that caused -1 to show up where the "new mail" (or envelope) indicator was, and that was fixed by performing a software upgrade.

If you did receive a push msg or push msgs, you would see that specific indicator icon with a 1 or 2 etc.. NOT -1 or -2 etc.

Fun

lostinspace- Thanks for the info, I think I figured it out, I had loaded the BB Weather browser and once I open it and refresh, it goes away and updates the Weather Browser Icon on the home page (one of the application icons). I think that's it. Thanks.

Interesting

I signed up for "push" weather alerts, and now I get a globe icon whenever I receive a push message.

When I read the message, the icon goes away.
