Unhappy Blackberry Desktop Manager serious error

Please Login to Remove!

What follows is a very long winded description of a problem which I will first summarize:

My BB Desktop Manager Software crashes every time I start it. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, but it still continues to crash. What should I do?

Long version:

I recently purchased an 8310 from ATT in San Francisco, California. I downloaded the latest version of the BB Desktop Manager software, installed it, and things seemed to be working fine.

Then I downloaded what I thought was the latest software for my BB via the ATT BB website. This is the name of the so-called software file I dl'd: 8310M_PBr4.2.2_rel312_PL2.5.0.30_A4.2.2.170_AT&T

I installed the BB Desktop Manager (Desktop Software v4.2 SP2 (English)) and it seemed to be working fine (after a ridiculously long load time when it got to the Roxio part. I mean, like at least five minutes, mabye ten).

I then connected my old 7290 and backed it up.

Then I installed the "software update" (8310M_PBr4.2.2_rel312_PL2.5.0.30_A4.2.2.170_AT&T) which was confusing becase it said "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for BB v.4.2.2 for the 8310 Series Wireless Handheld". Why would it say v.4.22? Isn't that the Desktop Manager Software version number?

Anyway, I went ahead and installed what I thought was the latest software for my device. Somehow it was different from other times I've upgraded BB software. It didn't ever seem to connect to the plugged in BB to upgrade software.

After I installed that, when I opened the Desktop Manager, it shut down and a Windows "report error" window popped up. I opened and closed it a few times, and every time it would crash, even after I rebooted my pc.

So I uninstalled the 3310 software entry in add/remove programs and uninstalled the Desktop Software. I then rebooted and reinstalled the basic desktop manager program, not the 3310 specific file. It still crashes every time I try to open it.

Any ideas?
