Default Memory issues with Pearl 8130, and App Loader trouble

Please Login to Remove!

I know a lot of these threads get made, but reading through other ones is very confusing because almost no one makes the distinction between RAM and storage memory. I have a MicroSD card in my Pearl, so I figured that all this deleting themes and unwanted applications stuff would not help me as much because I already keep all my media on the card. However, because everyone everywhere just refers to 'memory' and not RAM or storage memory shortages, it is really hard to figure out what I can do to maximize RAM besides closing applications when I am done with them.

After I do a batter pull, I seem to have 12-13MB of 'File Free'. This is the RAM, correct? And is this normal? During normal usage, I seem to average 9-8MB of File Free, but recently it has been dropping ridiculously low; I am now averaging 5-3MB, and I even had .3MB at one point! It took a full 30 seconds for the Key Lock to turn on! What is causing this? The only 3rd party app I regularly use is Viigo, and I have Opera Mini and the Facebook app but have yet to do anything with them.

Also, I have the Memory Cleaner set to run after like 5 minutes idle, and I run it manually on occasion, but it seems to do pretty much nothing. Also, the Device Memory Limit is set to 5MB, and the Reserved Picture Memory is 0MB. Or maybe the Memory Cleaner would work better if it stayed enabled, and did not disable itself, seemingly after resets...

Also, I am having trouble with the Application Loader. When I open it, it only shows me the 3rd party apps that I have; Facebook, Opera, and Viigo. So, despite reading the sticky on how to maximize memory, I cant actually do much that involves the App loader because it will not show anything but these.

Anyone have any idea on what I can do? Any particular threads I should look at?

Will anything bad happen if I delete Japanese and Korean Characters and Font support?

13xxxxxx isn't a bad amount of space on a BB pearl. BUT seeing as you have only 3 3rd party apps that might be kinda low.
The memory cleaner helps some, but not much.
Opera is said to cause memory leaks, so if you don't use it a lot might not be a bad idea to remove it.
To see all the other OS applications that are standard on your phone you need to have an OS installed on your computer. So the first question is; what OS are you running? If you can you should update your OS and then at that time remove uneeded apps, language packs and stuff to free up space. Finish the installation

I am using OS 4.5.0.77; what it came with. I was reading a few people say that Viigo can use a lot of memory. I only got Opera yesterday, and dont use the web too terribly much on the BB. However, that large memory leak (that left me with .3MB) also occured yesterday... some time after installing Opera... I will try removing it and seeing what happens.

Ok there is one upgrade above that (well and one in the wild/a beta) and it can be found in the 8100 forum with instructions on how to upgrade if your carrier doesn't have it yet. I haven't done it but you may also just be able to download the OS from your carrier's site and install that on your computer and then use the app loader to remove the extra things that you don't need.
Also make sure you properly close applications leaving them open can eat memory quick. Use the menu and close function each time!
