Default re

when you go into the phone, does it show

My Number : Unknown

or does it not even display?

if it does not even show up,

1) click on trackwheel
2) goto options
3) goto general options
4) where it says Show "My Number" set it to YES
5) save and exit, you should now see the "My Number : XXX-XXX-XXXX"

if it says My Number : Unknown

1) exit to main menu
2) goto options menu (wrench)
3) goto SIM Card
4) click on trackwheel and select "Edit SIM Phone Number"
5) enter in your phone number save and exit
6) goto phone menu and it should now say "My Number : XXX-XXX-XXXX"

If even after enabling Show "My Number" and "Edit SIM Phone Number", and the device still reads, "My Number : Unknown", call your provider and ask them to refresh your profile as it /usually/ can be written to your SIM over the air.

Enjoy

From page 103 of the the BB 7290 User's Manual:

Can I change how my phone number appears in the phone?
Yes. Edit your SIM card phone number to change how your phone number appears in the phone. In the handheld options, click SIM Card. Click the trackwheel. Click Edit SIM Phone Number. Edit your phone number and save your changes.

If you edit your SIM card phone number, the number that appears in the My Number field in the phone changes. Editing the SIM card phone number does not change the actual number used to make and receive calls.

You can also hide your phone number so that it does not appear in the phone. In the phone options, click General Options. Set the Show My Number field to No.
Sometimes it is easier to ask then read...

I have a 7520 . Under my "options" I do not have General Options.

Any idea How I can show my phone number? I don't have a book for my BB to look it up.

You won't find it under the "OPTIONS" (wrench) you have go to the phone program first, like your making a phone call, then click on thumbwheel, scroll down to "options" list and that's where you'll see General Options...

I have a similar problem except the phone is showing the wrong phone number on the sim card but the phone otherwise rings to the correct number AND shows the proper number on other phones with caller ID. When I try to edit the SIM it says Denied Access to SIM. I'm Cingular/former AT&T and called and asked them about it but they were clueless.
