Default Activesync for Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

We would like to use AstraSync, but obviously it's not available yet. Are there any other companies doing the same thing or something similar [that are available now]?

TIA

P.S. - No, we can't afford to purchase BES server for our Windows/Exchange Server.

If you can't use BES but really need the functionality of activesync, stick with a windows mobile device that is purpose built for the job. It'll work a lot better than a BB with a third party pretend activesync module to fake BES functions.

Activesync is a Windows Mobile product. The BB uses Intellesync.

Why do you think you need Activesync? What are you trying to do?

The AstraSync site calls their software 'ActiveSync for Blackberry'. See AstraSync from MailSite - Connect a BlackBerry to a ActiveSync Exchange Server.

Why use ActiveSync? There are plenty of OTA sync applications out there?...*ahem* ThinkPost (us), BerrySync, etc!

Interesting...so is this a solution that wouldn't require any setup on the server side or sync client on my PC? Just the BB client and it makes use of standard services that would be available by default on the Exchange 2007 servers at my company?

this is for a client who is not giving up her Blackberry for WM. i don't care WM is native and all that, the client wants what they want and my job is to deliver it somehow (i'm sure you folks know how it is). i understand where ya'll coming from but this is what i'm chasing regardless

so i just need to know if anyone knows of another company that also offers a ActiveSync plugin for Blackberry like AstraSync that is already released?

Seems like it would be easier to set up BES Express or whatever it's called these days...

Astrasync looks very promising, and right up my alley! I signed up to keep myself informed when it goes live.

My work uses only activesync and windows mobile devices. While only upper management get free phones, regular employees who own their own phone are allowed to use activesync if they wish.

Coming from an iPhone, it was nice to have OTA syncing of my contacts and calendar. This is something I sorely miss when picking up a blackberry.

I have looked at BES options, but I do not want to pay an extra $15 a month just so that my provider (ATT) will enable BES on my phone, on top of using a 3rd party mailhost w/ BES availability (more money out of my pocket). It's too much just for me as all I need is to be able to OTA sync my contacts/calendar.

For the time being I just do it once a day via cable and await for a good solution to pop up.

You can sync your BB calendar to Google Calendar in case that is an option.

Does Google Calendar still have that limitation where it only recognizes new events?

My company has activesync for WM devices...I'm thinking that maybe I could use Astrasync with my BB as well. Not sure if it would actually work, or if they would let me do it, but would be cool if it did.

The Astrasync Trial and Buy links are now available!

I have to get approval to use activesync at work, which may take some doing...hopefully someone else w/easy access to activesync will give this a try and report back...

Cool. I'll have to wait until they throw in support for exchange 2003. My company hasn't upgraded to 2007.

For those who do try this out, let the rest of us know how well it works.

Default cost?

Does anyone know the cost of this software? I tried to find it on their site but it made me regiater and then it wouldn't register me for some reason. I am wanting to go with the Curve but desperately want my ota exchange sync.

Wirelessly posted (BB Curve)

I believe I read somewhere that it will cost $50 per year.

I believe it's a bargain for those on a bis with activesync available to them versus paying the extra bes data fee most providers like to charge.

Mine is not as strict which is nice. They only require the phone to offer activesync as a feature. Doesn't have to be a WM phone, it just needs to have activesync capabilities.

They may only support WM but does that mean anything else won't work?
