Default Bedside Mode Question

Please Login to Remove!

When I have my normal battery in, I use the cradle to set my bold in and the unit goes to bedside mode (and is charging). The clock stays visible. All is well.

I use my extended battery sometimes and it won't fit the cradle and I don't want to charge it, so I set the bold on my nightstand and manually go to Bedside Mode. Problem is, after 30 seconds (how I have my backlight time out set), the screen goes dim. Now, if I wake in the middle of the night, I can't see the time.

How can I keep the clock showing in Bedside mode, when I'm not charging?

Thus my problem.... seems to be a pretty basic feature to have overlooked.

Its the result of the standard BB power management. I set mine as per yours. Once the screen blacks out, hit the Space bar. Voila, clock visible. But an extra step.

You really really don't want the screen to remain on the entire night, even with an extended battery in it.

In beside mode I do. Nothing is on except the very dim screen that shows the time.

Yeh, but it runs the battery out more than just having the mobile network on and a black screen.
I believe thats why it only stays on when charging, because it has an additional power source it can run off while charging the battery.

Bedside mode constantly lit was only intended for while charging, as stated above.

The charger cable for the cradle is the same as a standard charger for the phone. Why not just unplug the cable from the cradle and plug it into the phone? Should be a pretty quick operation (even quicker than manually turning on bedside mode).

Just a thought.

Ditto to JStevenson. I dont have a charger cradle so I just plug the wall charger directly in to the device and go to Bedside mode. The display dims slightly - enough to not be distracting but can be still read at night.
