I have had my BB Torch 9800 now for over a week It is on O2 (UK Carrier) and is also BES activated and when I try to connect to my home wifi I hit trouble. I have a Zoom XR wireless router I have 2 Laptops and a wireless enabled PC working fine, its running WPA seciruty and I have added wireless Mac Filtering also. if I reboot the router I can find it on my torch and connect my torch to it however if I look at the routers DHCP client list the Torch is not there even though it has assigned an ip address, it will stay connected for a short time and then drop off. My duaghters HTC desire running Android connects no problem as does my sons Iphone. ANY help would be greatly apprecited.

You have I assume added the Blackberry's WLAN mac address to the router?
And if you have, are you sure its the WLAN and not the BlueTooth address? I got those mixed up first time.

I got the mac address from Options,Device,Device and Status info, WLAN MAC

I prosume that is correct?

100% correct PSK

As I said it connects initialy and everything looks fine and works great then it drops off and unless I reboot the Router will not connect again.

Bug in router firmware perhaps? We've had no issue with our torches (or any BB's for that matter) with our Cisco AP's.

Check for a firmware update.

Well, if you disable the MAC filter on the router, does the problem persist?

Problem still exists, enabled mac filtering in order that I could add the mac for my torch?

its a wierd problem as i said before, if i reboot my router it will display the wifi network name and the wifi symbol lights up and it works, however it will only stay connected for 10-15 mins then drop off and will not connect again unless i reboot the router.

Any other ideas? appreciate the help as it is driving me nuts

have used WEP, WPA WPA2 open no change, reboot the router and it connects however drops off atfter approx 10- 15 mins, then when you try to reconnect it reports" Failure to associate with Network"

I have tried on a few different networks with no problem, it points to the router i know but, i cant figure out what the 9800 doesnt agree with? i have 3 laptops 1 PC 1 iPhone an HTC desire PS3 and a Wii that connect without any qustion.

Yes, it does. If it connects to other routers then it appears as though perhaps there is a compatibility issue between this particular router and the BB device. Perhaps the router is only marginally WiFi compliant?

every other device connects no probs,

The 9800 may be more "strict". Other devices may be more lenient in terms of what they tolerate.

Thanks for your help however, I decided to change the router and moved to a new Belkin N+ router and within 10 mins of setting it up the 9800 was connected and has been for the last 5 hours.

I have no idea why the Zoom X6 didnt work with the 9800 but sometimes you just cant figure it out and have to call it a day.

I recently purchased a new Torch and was having the same sort of issues with intermittent wifi connectivity. It would connect and then after about a minute it would stop responding - although it was still connected. I have a Cisco/Linksys WAP4410N access point. I had to do 2 things in order to finally get a stable wifi connection. First, I had to choose wireless channel 1, 6, or 11. It was originally set to auto and was choosing channel 2. The second thing I had to do was change the guard interval. On my AP, it is set to auto by default. Once I manually set it to "Short (400)", my wifi connections were as solid as a rock. This is what worked for me. Hopefully it may help those whoe are still having issues.

By the way, if I changed either of the 2 settings (wireless channel and guard interval), the instability came back. When I manually set the guard interval to "Long (800), it seemed to work for a while but I still got the "unable to locate server" error messages after a while. Therefore, for my set up, those had to be configured as described above for it to work on my LAN. Also by the way, my wireless LAN is configured for "N" only. Your mileage may vary.
