I have been having this trouble off and on, I will receive a text and it will not open unless I reboot, it is always a continued conversation where i have already opened other messages and replyed and then when I get a response it wont let me open it?

I can open any other message above it or below it?

I have not deleted any messages from day one, Is this something I need to do and maybe causing the problem?

How do I delete them in groups and not one at a time? Can I go back and delete to a certain date?

also, do you have any 3rd party apps that might be monitoring / using SMS functionality?

This behaviour was corrected with OS 5 versions .5xx and above, I'm told.

But to answer your original question: Yes, the fact you haven't deleted any messages would be the cause. Pre .5xx versions would lock up if the SMS conversation became too long. The only resolution was to delete the entire conversation with that person and start a new one.

Upgrading your OS to something greater than .505 should correct the problem.
