Default Pending messages

Please Login to Remove!

Hi to all of you,
I have a large number of pending messages for several users. What should I check in order to ensure that the messages will be forwarded to the handhels?

High pending messages may result from..
1. Device is out of coverage
2. User has turned off the wireless radio, therefore the device will not respond to packets from the BES
3. If all users are experiencing high pending counts, it may indicate network issues or someone may have adjusted the polling interval.

I have seen that we have a number of users that turn their devices off for a week or 2 at a time even though I have encouraged them not to do that. So if there hasn't been contact to that device in a week or so then you might want to contact the user to make sure they are not just having issues. You can also try to resend the IT Policy and see if it is gets applied successfully. I am sure others will have other suggestions as well.

You could use the APB alert option to contact the users/handhelds with high pending counts. A brief message or suggestion to explain the reason for the APB alert. Those that don't respond may indicate that the devices are totally off and/or the users hasn't bothered to look at them for a while.
No response after a resonable wait period....I would purge the pending mail for those users...but that's me

Check your logs for hung threads as well, sometimes a reboot of the server will clear the hung threads and deliver the messages.

If you go into User Stats and check the "Time Since Last" fields then it will give you a good clue as to whether the users even use their BlackBerry anymore. If not then you can go take them back and give them to your friends and family.

Thanks a lot for your help. I tryed to resend IT policy and I noticed the following:
IT Policy Status:
IT Policy Sent:
IT Policy Received:
But the pending messages are still pendig, and the server continues to try to forward messages for this users.

Default better restart whole box...

pol72: User Stats can be found under the the selected user in "User List" tab

The recent service packs of bes 4.0 is still quite buggy... when you see a lot of pending messages and you know that users have not switched off handhelds and on constant move, better to restart the whole box... for more details, you may contact TSupport...

The BES is suppose to delete pending messages older than 7 days but this feature has not been working properly on any of the BES for Domino version I had with the expection for 4.0.2
