Ok, so I dm was working ok, even though it never recognizes that i am on a bes even though i have uninstalled and reinstalled several times being sure i have the correct option checked. i then proceeded to download the verizon patch for the 8330 from the smith micro site, when i reconnect my bb to try and install, dm will no longer recognize my bb, i'm using xp pro and i hear the ding sing sound when i connect so my comp is recognizing just not dm??? any thoughts.

What version of DM are you using? On my 8330 I had to use 4.2 because 4.5 has had issues. You might want to try to unstall 4.5 if that is what you are using and D/L 4.2 woithOUT media manager. My prb seemed to be with Roxio. Hope this helps!

You might have to uninstall DTMgr and remove registery entries then reinstall to get it working.

I had this issue on all three of my computers after I installed DM 4.5. None of the desktops recognized the BB when I connected it to the USB port although I too heard the "ding, ding".

After several uninstalls, registry cleanups, DM versions, I finally followed the advice of someone either on here or at Pinstack. The advice? Connect the BlackBerry to the computer, wait a couple of minutes, and then while it is still connected and turned on, pull the battery. I pulled the battery and waited for around 30 seconds and reinserted it. That did the trick for me. All of a sudden, each of my computers recognized my BB without any further changes to the DM software.
