My company has rewritten its outdated coporate policy regarding IT usage, the result of which is that we are now going to require all BBs to be password protected, something we've not done up until now. I'll preface my questions with the fact that we are a construction company, and our field users are much more comfortable digging ditches, climbing poles, etc.
- Is there an IT policy rule that would allow us to assign a static password that can only be changed via BES, not on the handheld? I can't seem to find anything like this
- If not, is there a combination of rules I can apply that will accomplish the same end result?
In addition, how do the Set Maximum Password Attempts and Suppress Password Echo rules interact; the first seems to trump the second. Let's say I set the first rule to 5 and the second to Yes. The way I read the rule descriptions provided in BES/BAS, after the 5th unsuccessful password attempt, echoing is turned on, but the device is also wiped and locked. Obviously this makes no sense, so can anyone point out where I'm going wrong?
Thanks for any information you can offer.
