Default Got my hands on an 8350I

Please Login to Remove!

Well talked to Rim tonight at the 8350I event/launch party and they confirmed a Dec 1 /2nd launch date online order only. She did state the models we played with at this event have a trackball that was to recessed to deeply and that problem is being corrected before the launch. That issue is part of the reason they pushed back from November launch to December. The device feels great the wifi can be configured to recognized your wifi network instantly when you enter a room. It’s a finger print magnet with the same black slippery plastic all new phones are coming out with . All the expected features:

128mb ram
Iden only 800/900mhz
Data is iden only 800/900 mhz/ wifi 802.11b/g
Gps sim interface
1400 mah li-ion battery
Display is 320x240 65 k tft lcd display
2mp camera
Up to 16g card for storage
Bluetooth 2.0
Voice activated dialing
Docs to go (looks great)

I love Docs to go it looks great and opens fine with nice looking menus. The device is running 4.6 and has the same home screen theme out of the box like the blackberry storm and Bold devices. It will come with a plastic holster that will face the device inward to protect the screen and keyboard. They are really hoping to strike a cord with the Nextel users that left due to the lack of smart phones. I think this device with be a home run with diehard Nextel users looking to upgrade from a dying 7100 device or dinosaur 7520. For the users that left Nextel due to lack of innovation and no smartphones its time to give Nextel/Sprint another look.

Do you know if it comes with a phone clip? If not is it exactly the same as a BlackBerry Curve so I could get a Curve clip or case?

I played with it and it felt the same tho I didn't look at dimensions. I was told it would fit in the current 8330 otterbox case so I would think the dimensions are the same.

Say a rumor tonight of a Dec 15th push back due to a flaw. I guess we will see. I did call customer service Friday for somthing else and she did state a Dec 1st release was on track.

It's not thinker? The only video I could find online is from CNET... The claim for it to be a little thinker, but who knows with CNET...

I got the message about December 15. I am really disappointed. I am so ready to throw my 7100i out a window!

I did not, where you get this from? On the 3rd or 4th, I was going to place my order. I am 18 and don't have much credit and I really want to have my own phone bill. Start paying my own bill instead of my stepdad... But I don't want a hugely deposit, like I would with AT&T. So the 9000 is out and Sprint is letting me in with out a deposit. Plus there cheaper monthly, but I don't want an 8830. I really want OS 4.6 so I can edit office... That's why I started leaning toward the 8350i. 3G is not that important, I don't sit there and browse the net on my device. As long as I have movie times and stock at my fingertips. Along with my precious e-mail, GPS would be kick ass (Damn VZW).

I preordered it from vazcom and go an email today... here is the message..

LATE BREAKING NEWS!

The BlackBerry® Curve™ 8350i w/camera that was slated to launch on 12/1/2008 in Direct Ship has a new launch date of 12/15/2008. As of right now the Bulk launch date has not changed. A Dealer Daily communication will be going out tonight with the new launch date. Pre orders will still be shipped out first on the morning of availability. The Blackberry Storm (Verizon) has launched on its scheduled release date of 12/21. Attached is the $100.00 MIR (mail in rebate) for the Curve 8350i. Corporate and Government business liable accounts receive flat rate pricing.

To insure pre orders are shipped out on the day of availability please make sure your account is not in a delinquent status. This will prevent delays when charging equipment purchases to accounts. For individual spending limit accounts, Sprint/Nextel would require payment for the equipment upfront. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you for your time and patience. Have a safe and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanks for the update... Guess I will go with the 8330... But I know there's an option for one without an camera. Do you think the camera-less option is also pushed back?

No idea but I am holding out for the camera. I was so looking forward to having the camera on my phone because of a concert I am going to on December 10. Now I gotta try and sneak a camera in! Oh well! I know when I get the phone it's gonna be great to be able to finally be rid of the 7100i!

I bet that dinosaur is getting old, lol. Hmmm, I always sneak my Canon G9 into concerts, so much easier then trying to sneak my DSLR in... You should invest in a G9, easy to sneak in. Still get DSLR like results, kinda... But yea, how much did you pay (For 8350i)?

Didn't pay for it yet because they just charge it to your phone bill (I think).. It's supposed to be $149 after the $100 mail in rebate.

As for the camera, I have a little Nikon point and shoot coolpix that I can take in. I'd love to take the good camera in but that's not gonna happen!

Just called Sprint with a small hope that this were true and they can't get it yet. She told me mid December. I also heard a rumor that they'll have to push back the launch date even further.
