Updating from os from 4.6 to 5.0

Hello everyone,
I am trying in vain to update my 8900.
I followed every tutorial that could be available around without any sucess.
I tried with the desktop manager, I tried with the apploader, several time on several configurations without any luck.
Each time I go in the apploader (see the pic attached) there is no traces of an os or an os to update. The apploader is the 5.0 os.
I am on a mac so I tried with an emulator first and then reboot as a PC (bootcamp) but with no luck either.
Anyone might have resolve- this kind of problem ? ANyone help will be very welcome ! Thanks !
One more info. I tried to do ther updtae with the blackberry site. I can see the update there but is says that I must be a registered member of the blackberry data service (I am translating from french). Is it anyway to avoid this procedure ?
