Default Update to bbscreenshooter

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I wanted to edit my original post, but the system won't let me due to the links.
I have updated the tool and fixed some bugs.
If you already have it, simply use the built-in update function. ( the [!] exclamation mark button)
(If you run XP SP2 you need to uncheck the "Always ask before opening that file" check box in the security pop-up if it appears to make the updater work)

Regards,
Michael

Can you hook me up with your tool? If you like, I can post a link to it here in the forums.

Hello Torben,

Thank you for your interest in Idokorro BlackBerry Viewer.

In order to help us understand the market for BlackBerry Viewer, and to
assist us in developing it into a commercial product we would appreciate
if you could complete the following survey. The download link will
appear after the survey is completed:

Please be aware this is just a trial version of the BlackBerry Viewer
and it will expire February 1st, 2007. It is not a commercial sales

Agreed. The tool is currently free if you answer their questions, but I would pay for it personally. Basically their tool captures screenshots over and over. The device becomes very sluggish when using it too. Thus, I rarely if even use it. Hopefully RIM will open some APIs for the developers that will allow for a streaming display in the future.

Yes, I did express my opinions in their survey. Also I modified the link in your previous post so it is clickable.

  1. Connect the Blackberry directly to the PC. Known issues with BlackBerry handhelds not working properly with USB hubs.
  2. Did you install BlackBerry Desktop Manager or Device Manager?
  3. Is your handheld OS atleast version 4.0.2/
  4. Can Desktop Manager see the BlackBerry? If not, neither can any of the screenshot utilities.

This is a great tool for creating training materials. Are you aware of any tool which can provide a live display onto a laptop?

You have a couple of options.
Idokorro BlackBerry Viewer - Free if you fill out a survey. This is a BETA version that is only good until 2/1/2007.
Impatica ShowMate - Not free. This will allow you to connect your BlackBerry to a projector. I think this is for PowerPoint presentations only.

I have used the Idokorro BB Viewer for a while now....it is simple to use and has no frills but that is exactly what I was looking for.

Is the Idokoro BB Viewer real-time or is this just a quick repetition of screenshots? If the latter then it possible to rewrite a viewer using the javaloader.exe. (I have notused the viewer yet)

Idokoro BB Viewer is just a quick repetition of screenshots. It already uses JavaLoader too. From my understanding, this is as good as it gets until RIM opens up the APIs to output the display via USB.

Ok, I just put a looping javaloader -u screenshot test.bmp in a quick and dirty GUI that does nothing put show the picture. Even if slow down to 1 shot per second it really slows down my blackberry. Does the BBViewer has negative impact on the blackberry as well? If yes they really use the same method. Mmh, how I'd wish to get access to the APIs...

The Idokorro Viewer I use is real-time...not sure about the other posts about it. That is assuming your talking about when your doing activity on your BB it shows on the screen what you are doing in real-time. I use it for training as I project the actions I am telling the users about on through the BB viewer. I plan on using it to create a training video but have not done that yet.

Use BBscreen to capture screenshots for documentation purposes from a live BlackBerry, not a simulator. Give it to your help desk who can send it to end-users to capture screenshots of error messages. Or, put it on a shared network location and have the hlep desk send links to it.
I'm not very comfortable with a clear text password....is there a way I can modify that?

Don't enter a password. When prompted, the password will be hidden.
