Default Which LCD version/revision do you have on your Blackberry Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

So when I look around for parts for the Blackberry Bold, it's one of the few smartphones that has been shipped with three different part numbers for the LCD. So far there are 001/004, 002/004, and 003/004. This of course begs the question, where's 004/004?

Anyway if you've ever had occasion to take apart your Bold, and happened to notice which version of the LCD you have, please let us know!

Just started problems with my 9000 lcd the other day, so i had to order a new one. Its a 002/004 version. Also there is a 004/004 version...and the new white 9000 Bolds are shipping with them.

Aha. Thanks. I guess the aftermarket parts places haven't gotten inventory in yet.

You would have to take apart your Blackberry Bold. So unless you've had to replace your LCD, chances are you won't know.

Of course people are free to take apart their Blackberrys. LOL

When I was replacing my LCD, I always wondered what the difference is..

And what would have happened if, say, I used the 003/004 instead of the 002/004

I think that the physical dimensions are slightly different. I am not sure about the circuitry.

So basically if you used the wrong LCD revision, the repair wouldn't quite fit properly back together with the new LCD for your Blackberry Bold

I've seen where someone used a 003/004 version where it was supposed to be a 002/004 and their lcd didn't function correctly. It showed a bunch of multicolored bars across the screen. It most likely has something to do with how the information is being sent to the lcd from the main board. Firmware controlled.

I guess on the Bold you're talking about same physical form, different circuitry.

I just know that when you do an LCD repair on a Blackberry Tour, there are two LCD revisions and in that case the physical dimensions are slightly different.

It could be physical dimension, it could be circuitry. Either way, its best to get the exact version that replaces the one that was originally installed.

Hello everyone.
I work in mobile service center so I can confirm a few thing.

There are no dimension differences between lcd revisions on the bold or the
curve 8900.
For the curve 8900 I tryed a v 003 (originally it had 002) and only a couple of lines appeared on the screen. They are incompatible with each other.

For the bold v001 and 002 might be compatible if you have a certain hardvare revision in your phone. Ex a customer brought a bold with a broken lcd it was v002 and I had on stock a v001 display and it worked okay.
Not sure why exactly.

My advice is the same as raptors. Replace only with same version just to be on the safe side.

I have 001/004 which sucks because it seems to be the most expensive

I have the white screen right now and cannot get anything to display at all. Looks like I will need to replace it.

Anybody tried using a different screen on this model with any success?

Oh man, that stinks. Sorry to hear that. I don't think it's worth it to try another screen model. Most of the places I use charge the same price for your Blackberry repair part regardless of revision.

I have a blackberry bold 9000. There is no part # on the back of the LCD display like 001/004. It only has this number VA081108EM2. Do you know what model LCD display this might be 002/004, 003/004, 001/004 ????

Can anyone help?

The actual number you need should be on the ribbon connector. If you post everything that's on the ribbon maybe we can help.
