It would be hard to give up the keys - depends on what is more important - MultiMedia or typing / working. If you do a lot of both - it is tough. How fast can you type on it? Will it have an accelerometer like the to determine if the unit has been turned on its side?
its more about how usable the unit is and how easy will it be to type on?
Some people prefer a full multimedia functionality when using PDA some dont! Like hate not having HTML emails, it comes out as practically unreadable emails.
i had a treo for maybe 3 years. i loved them (both of them). i never typed on the touchscreen though--i used the physical qwerty pad for dialing numbers/typing words. i liked that i could just touch the icons i wanted to get to (opposed to having to scroll to them). this came in pretty handy when i was online, because sometimes i couldn't seem to scroll over the link that i wanted with my trackball. u know? for me, the only downside with my treo was that it froze. i wish the blackberry could show my agenda for the day on my home screen like my treos did.

Reason: had to explain
I would if it works well. My Blackberry is used mainly for receiving important emails. I try hard not to spend all day composing and replying to long winded requests. I am usually never more than an hour or two from a laptop or desktop pc. I would think how you use yours would be the strongest reason on whether or not a touch screen would work for you.
I would not but I know it will be very tempting for others. The is room for a keyboardless Blackberry for those who want it so I say yes to the option!
I'd have to test it out before deciding. I generally don't like touch screens. They seem to be prone to failure which goes against my biggest reason for choosing BB -- reliability. Still, I'd give the Thunder a shot on a carrier other than Verizon.
If I just browsed Viigo and read e-mails, it would be fine. But I chat online (sometimes), text and e-mail too long to type on a non-physical keyboard.
And my #1 reason - With the new OS I expect the ability to edit Docs on the BB, and if I can do that, I will, not with a touchscreen though...
My fingers just recently recovered from switching to a non touch screen; not sure if I wanna go back. Touch screens are nice, but have their drawbacks too.
- Easier to break and more expensive to replace
- Accidental entries are easier on touch screens
- Accuracy is not always the best
A combination like the Treo's is nice as they have both, but to only have a touchscreen and no keys ........ not likely gonna try it.
Going from Treo keyboard to Curve keyboard was hard enough. Going from Curve keyboard to touch screen.......NO WAY. I use my BB mostly for my work emails, typing on a touchscreen I think would be way to slow.
