Unhappy Low BB service signal only in my house

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem. I'm experiencing a slow or lack of BB service in certain parts of my house. I have to move the cell phone around or go to another part of my house for it to function normally. Also, if I leave my house everything goes back to normal. I still have the all-caps EDGE caption, but BBM messages take forever to be sent and get received.

I am using an 8900. This also happens to my sister's phone, which is a 8520.

My initial suspicion is that maybe there's some interference of some sort going on. My wireless router is in my room. But I've tried turning it off to no avail.

Any help on figuring this one out will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What you call interference... I call walls and a roof. ;)

There is obviously some sort of signal block or coverage gap around your house. For example, ATT has a coverage hole on my street, around my house which caused a degraded signal. Their microcell device fixed that right up, but it took several calls to ATT to get them to confess that it was a coverage problem.

No carrier will guarantee cell coverage in a building or house. Have you spoken to your carrier about it? You need to do that first before you complain here.

It could just be a bad coverage spot as Dubdub mentions, but not all walls and roofs are created equal. Wire mesh is used for plaster and stucco, rebar is used for concrete, some places have metal roofs or siding, etc.

For some reason, in my bathroom my phone gets full bars from my wifi router, but the signal is messed up so the web sometimes gives load errors as does trying to "get more" in email It's feet away but something in the walls interferes with the signal. Other than electrical to the light switch and pipes, there shouldn't be anything in there causing problems.

Depending on your location and the proximity of the cell tower, the signal will vary.
Not much except a micro cell to help. Some companies offer external antennas but those are hit or miss.

I think it's a terrorist act committed by Osama Bin Laden.
Don't worry about it, as things like that are not uncommon. In my house, at my computer station (where me and my electronics have been banned to by the wife), I have the same problem.

I'd call the carrier and complain, some carriers offer network extenders for issues like this. I'd try to get one those for your house.
