Default Can't activate new Rogers (unlocked) Bold on AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a BIS user. I have a new, unlocked Rogers Bold (thanks BBF and Horizon!) but I cannot get it activated on AT&T. I log into the AT&T BIS site, click on Change Device, and type in my PIN and IMEI. The error message I get is this:

The information you have provided is not valid for this service provider.

I've double and triple-checked the numbers, typed them in with one finger, pausing after each character to re-check, and it keeps gronking at me. Anybody else see this on a Bold and AT&T?

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

Awesome that you got that beautiful device

Have you tried changing the device from the handheld?

More info:

I used the Blackberry Desktop Software to transfer my info from my 8820 to the Bold, and was careful to ensure I was not transferring any third-party apps. Only my calendar and address book.

Twice I went to Options > Advanced Options > HRT and clicked Register Now. I got the on-screen confirm that the message was sent but never got the confirm email in my inbox. I looked at my Service Books and I have a boatload of them, some with Media Mall and some with the usual stuff like WAP2, or my email addresses. My email boxes showed up, one for each account I use, and my browser connects me to these forums as well as any other site I enter. Clearly I have data. But no email is arriving and no email is being sent. Mail I composed on the BB is sitting in my general message folder withe a little red clock next to it.

Haven't tried that yet. I will do so now. You're talking about just using the Blackberry web browser to access the BIS site, right?

Or go into your setup folder, enter your setup wizard and try setting it up from there. You should get the "Your account is registered with PIN: xxxxxxxxx. would you like to switch to PIN: xxxxxxxxx"

I had the opposite issue in that it wouldn't register on the device and I had to log into my BIS to switch.

Unfortunately, the setup wizard will only do BES accounts. And I got the same error message accessing the AT&T BIS site through the Blackberry browser. I'm at an impasse. I've got a shiny new BB Bold in my hands, and it won't do email. D'oh!

Hmmm.. You may have to contact AT&T and have them transfer you to RIM. Have you logged into your BIS with your SIM in the Bold to see if it will prompt a change?

Well, the 8th time was the charm! I logged into BIS on my computer and re-entered the info for PIN and IMEI for the umpteenth time and it went through. My network registration confirm came through and now the emails have started to trickle in. I was about to call AT&T and start that process when my red "new mail" light started blinking.

I can't thank you guys enough! It's an awesome device. It actually feels much lighter than my 8820, and the leather-style back cover is a joy to hold. I also appreciate the recessed pearl/trackball. So far, in my limited time with the Bold, it's surpassing my expectations in every category.
