Exclamation How is the speaker phone on your 8700?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey 8700 and 8703 users out there...I just got my unit a week ago and notice a lot of hissing and what sounds like feedback in the speaker phone is this normal or should it be crystal clear? I came from using a nextel/mike phone which had a great speakerphone.

I had a 7520 then went to a Sprint 8703e. Speaker sucks on this unit, Nextel had better speaker.

My 8700C has some vibration noise because of the construction of the door. Basically, as far as I can guess, the back door basically vibrates when the speaker is in use and it creates a "tinny" sound. So, I have come up with a technologically advanced method of dealing with it. I opened the door and stuck a small rectangular piece of paper towel right on top of the battery. and put back the lid. You would have to experiment with yours - based on brand of paper towel and size. I basically tried to achieve a snug feel as I put the door back on. See - I told you it was very advanced. I wonder if I should have been an engineer???

I've been thru 4 8703's already (don't ask) and the speakphone volume has been poor on all of them. My expectations must be too high, because I hear so many people say 'Mine's fine'. If there were batches of bad ones, I figure I would have stumbled across a good one with all of the replacements I've gotten

Just used it today for a conference call and it worked like a charm...you may need to adjust the volume a little to cut back on feedback.

I agree 100%. The only way I can use it in the car is if I hold the speaker upto my ear, which completely defeats the purpose.

They only way I'd be able to do a conference call on speaker would be if I had acoustic tiling installed in my office, closed the door and hid under my desk!

I really don't get how some people can say that the volume on their 8703e is 'fine'.

Just my $0.02

My 8700c was pretty bad until I upgraded to the latest OS. Then I noticed a marked improvement.

I've used an 8703e (verizon) and now an 8700c (cingular). The 8703e had an awful speaker phone. I could barely hear it. The 8700c is much louder and clearer. Very happy with it. Maybe it's a gsm thing?

I use speaker phone option of my 8700g in the car cradle and clarity is very clear. Volume is sufficient too.

My 8703e is clear, but could be louder. In the car, it's practically inaudible. Also, when I turn it to 100%, it vibrates the plastic.

Please see my post above to help with the vibration.
