Ensure the phone is charged and then switch the phone on.
Optional Step: If the SIM card has a PIN, enter your PIN number.
The phone will then display a message top of the screen. The most common is xxx8220;Invalid SIM cardxxx8221;.
Select xxx8220;Settingsxxx8221; Menu , then go to Advanced Options > SIM Card
Type alt-MEPE by holding the ALT-key and typing the letters MEPE
This will not show on the screen.
Holding ALT while typing MEPE will bring up the box to enter the code.
When prompted with xxx8220;Enter Network MEP code (255 left)xxx8221; on the screen, enter the 16-digit network unlock code provided for your phone (with no "p", "w", "+" or "#"), then press Enter.
The handset will be unlocked automatically. This will be confirmed if you can make and receive calls with the Non-Vodafone SIM card.
Reboot the BlackBerry and off you go.

ummm its the same for all devices.... MEPD will bring up the status of the lock... Holding ALT while typing MEPE will bring up the box to enter the code
