Default external media control keys no longer work

Please Login to Remove!

As of today, the Mute button no longer pauses/restarts music unless I'm in the Now Playing screen. The side buttons also no longer adjust the volume or skip to the next or previous song unless I'm in the Now Playing screen.

It was normal yesterday. I have no apps installed that could cause a conflict.

A battery pull did nothing.

How can I get the external keys to control the media player without being I'm the Now Playing screen?

After doing another battery pull and leaving the battery out for five minutes, the keys finally work again. What could cause this in the first place?

I'm sure some RIM developer could give you the details, but from a laymens perspective -- It is what it is.

Battery pulls, even extended battery pulls seem to work wonders on BB devices.

The next time your buttons don't work, check your free memory and post it here. I believe many freezing, keyboard not responding and deleted emails are caused by low memory. IMHO
