How do I know if DST is fixed?
Please Login to Remove!
Other than the obvious answer (wait until March 11th)...
I'm on BES, and I've talked with IT about DST patches. They said they would be pushing the fix to all blackberry devices, which sounds awesome. Can I check my device to see if they have done this? I'm a heavy calendar user, and have two other individuals posting items into my calendar as well. I just want to make sure I'm doing things on time.

Click on the Options icon.
If IS pushed the patch, you'll see 2007 DST Patch as the first item.
Hopefully they have also patched the E-Mail servers also...

If you go to Options, there should be a 2007 DST Patch in there. Another way you can check is, to go to Options, Date/Time and then check to see if you have a Mexico City - New timezone. If you do then you're patched, if not then you're not.

I didn't notice the Mexico City - New timezone until you pointed it out! Thank you!

No problem....I've been quite involved with patching everything concerning DST at work, so I think I've gotten to know the in's and out's of DST.

Wirelessly posted (Thumpers 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)
Great NJ & ac, thank you! Looks like I'm not patched yet, but we are a very large shop (>50,000 users), so I'll have faith (and keep checking). Have a great weekend...

Ok...I must be missing something. Does the Pearl require the patch? I understood that it does. I have Mexico City as a time zone but nothing about 2007 DST Patch in the options. It appears I've been patched (RE the Mexico City time zone) but I don't see the patch in the options.

If your BB Pearl has OS 4.2.0 then yes you will need to patch it. If it has 4.2.1 or later then you do not have to.
As for the Mexico City timezone, there has always been a Mexico City timezone, if you have the 2007 DST patch applied then it will have a "Mexico City" AND a "Mexico City - New" time zone. So if you don't have "Mexico City - New" then you are not patched, hence you do not see the 2007 DST Patch under Options.

Hey, the "Mexico City - New" is.a good thing to know, thanks! I see I have both "Mexico City (-6)" and "Mexico City - New (-6)", as well as, of course, the 2007 DST Patch in the Options.

Which will be valid until Congress changes it again. Or maybe not.
March 11th is going to be messier for the average consumer than Y2K...

I think it's more of an issue for business with many computers. It took me 10 minutes to fix my home computer and my wife's BB. The admins are pulling out their hair.

From what I have heard (I can not confirm this) but the 2007 DST changes will stay in place until 2009.
It is coming down to crunch time for DST patching. There is a lengthy process involved with patching servers and workstations for DST. Especially Exchange and BES. To make matters worse, Microsoft is requiring that companies still running Exchange 2000 to pay $4,000 for a patch, which is a little steep.

That is correct....for the average home user, all they have to do is run Windows Updates and their machines are patched.
For businesses, the process is a little different. It involves multiple patches and before the patching can occur, testing must be done to make sure these patches don't break anything. The process takes longer and varies depending on their environments.

It was originally $40,000. Reduced to $4,000. Unconscionable.

On my 8700g 4.1.0.284 I see "2007 DST patch applied." in my Options menu, but my "Mexico City (-6)" time zone does not say "New".
