Incoming mail notification

Hello there,
Im facing a very strange problem regarding the incoming mails.
Im trying to read the Subject of the mail just arrived. This Im handling by two ways as under:
01. By implementing the Folder notification API (i.e. FolderListener interface).
02. By running a background application which reads the mails from all folders.
However, in both of the cases, could not read the newly arrived mail.
Earlier response will be much appretiated.
