Exclamation Agent 1: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.

Please Login to Remove!

Ok so I am having a little bit of an issue with a BES installation of 4.1.4. This is a last ditch effort to try and repair this before I recommend uninstalling it and upgrading to BES 5.

All the services start, but the event viewer shows: "Agent 1: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.".
The client gets mail pushed to them initially while its restarting this service 10 times, then it stops.
I've checked all the permissions, run IEMSTest and it passes fine.
We've run the Controller service in debug mode and I'll post a portion of the log below:

---

I think the last three lines are the cause but I can't find anything in Google relating to those specific lines. I also isolated ports 4070-4071 in the registry but it didn't help.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
This is a SBS2003 server with BES 4.1.4

Edit: See attached file for the log, the forum thinks I am trying to post a web address and won't let me.

Have you installed SysLog from the Resource Kit or made any changes to the SysLogHost string in the Registry?

HKLM\Software\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents

I hadn't, but installing the application doesn't seem to solve the issue.

The ports on the following key seem to be causing the issue:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Reasearch In Motion\Blackberry Enterprise Server\Logging Info\Mailbox Agent
key = SysLogHost

Changing them to something else doesn't help either.

Is that string set to:

localhost:4071,localhost:4070

trying setting it to "localhost:4071,localhost:4070" now and see what happens.
It looks better now, and the client has been re-activated.

No dispatcher problems for the last 5 mins

Where did that setting come from? I am curious why my setting would be so different.

I had the same problem back in 2009 and it was as a result of me installing SysLog from the Resource Kit. I have no recollection of making any change to registry and the problem didn't show iteslf until the server was rebooted a couple of weeks later.

Hopefully this has now fixed your issue.
