If I plug in my BB 8330 on my pc, it comes up with a message on my BB that says basically there's not enough power to charge my phone... is this normal? My OLD BB used to charge when plugged into my pc.

You may need to upgrade the version of Desktop Manager you have installed. Or install it if you don't have it installed (I'd recommend version 4.5).
