Default Disable BlackBerry Administration Service Browser Timeout

Please Login to Remove!

Good Day Board,

Can anyone offer a way to prevent the BBAS 5.0 from timing out when I have it up in the browser?

I'm really annoyed that RIM has decided that the only way to manage your BES is via a web based interface, I was quite comfortable with the rich client and its making it a wee bit difficult to train my staff on using this web-based interface, especially when it slows down or timesout.

For now I'm just trying to find out if there is a way I can make the web interface stay permanently logged in unless I logout.

Thanks.

Did you find a way to do this, I am also looking to increase the timeout value.

I have not, and no one else seem to be able to do it.

The answer I've received from RIM support is that it isn't possible.

Great! That's just great! They should just go ahead then and provide us with a rich client so that we have an option. This webbased interface is not working out too well for me.

There is a time out on it since it can be published to the WEB.

It is a security risk to leave it open. Grin and bear it.

Yeah I know it's all for security, but they should have given us options to either disable the timeout (or increase it) or use a rich client. My environment is pretty secure physically so it would not be an issue leaving the console up as we make a few trips well to that console per day and its just a pain.

few trips to the console?

Why not launch BAS from your PC?

Hi kirrinjones,

Did an experiment yesterday, and it seems to have worked successfully. Let us know if it helps. The details are here - Inside Blackberry Enterprise Server: BlackBerry Administration Service Session Timeout.

Hi BBExpert,

I made the suggested change from your article and then I restarted my BAS-AS. I got an error in for this service in my Event Viewer (first time) with an Event ID of 4100, however everything else seems to be fine. I have logged into my BAS console at 1:20PM EST and will let it sit there and check it at the end of the work day (5PM EST) which would be 4 hours and see if it is still logged in.

Thanks for the tip and the research and I will let you know.

I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to BBExpert for his/her suggestion and workaround. I am please to report that the suggested fix in your article has effective "solved" the timeout issue as I can now have my console logged in and accessible for the entire workday without having to log back in 4-7 times a day.

Thanks very much.

I enjoy doing this type of work. At times you are just lucky! Nothing like a rocket science here.

When we went looking for this when spinning v5.0 up we found it with a web search specifying JBOSS and timeout... Here is one still on the desktop from early this year:

Jboss http session timeout - Jboss Blogs
