Default Background zoom?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok...

So I know the PlayBook is running a resolution of 1024x600.

I took a panoramic picture I made and resized it, threw it on the PB and it shows up in the preview perfectly.

I then set it as wallpaper, and it looks like it has zoomed in on the photo!

I don't mind it but I'm wondering why this has been done.

Attached are the original and a screen shot of my home screen

Yes, my apologies.

If you are bridged and use BES, screen capture is disabled. Security reasons.

Could anyone try this?

Pretty much I too an original panoramic I made that was like 3,000 x 2,400. I shrank it to 1024x600, then just loaded it, opened it and set it as the background.

What I don't unserdtand is why it has cropped and zoomed a portion of the image.

I have the same problem with my PB. I uploaded my pictures from my Nikon D90 (12.1MP) after I covered them from RAW to JPG. I left them in their original size 4k/2or3k resolution, anyhow when I view them in pictures their edges have been cut and when i set one to be my desktop it stretches the picture.

Can anyone say BUG!

Interesting. That article says the best fit is 1024x1200, while this article on CrackBerry says the best fit is 1024x1024. So, which is it?

I shouldn't have play with the size of my pictures especially when they are larger than the default size; the Playbook should already adjust them the default 1200x600 or whatever, this is best practice in the industry doing it the way RIM does it currently is old school, back in the 1980's we would have playing around the pictures resolution to make it fit onto desktops and application windows. Now that applications and operating systems less technically challenging they adjust the picture your are add unless the picture is smaller than the default required size.

Out of curiosity, did you try loading full-sized images to see what the PB would do with them before shrinking/resizing?

The "template" the Playbook uses is a canvas size of 1024x1024, so that when changing the orientation, it 'fits' properly.

I'd go with put your 1024x600 image on a 1024x1024 canvas, as mentioned it should scale properly then.

I already made my own 1024x1024 wallpapers a few weeks ago (the iPad I had used the same canvas size, so nothing new there). I'm just interested in how two different sites can come up with two different "proper" sizes for the canvas.

Looks like CrackBerry offers a free service to resize your images.

It took my picture and mutilated it.... I'll just do it myself I guess. ;)
