Angry Can't Transfer Files from Computer 2 BB Bold Using Bluetooth!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just shelled out a few hundred dollars for this new BlackBerry Bold 9000
and now I can NOT transfer files from my computer to this device via
Bluetooth AT ALL.

I am EXTREMELY UPSET that I can't do this with this phone, whereas
with my less-than-smart Sony Ericsson w580i, this was a breeze.

My OS is Windows Vista
My Blackberry is a BB Bold 9000.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you,

C.

The BB device is somewhat limited in it's bluetooth features on the pc.

You can do a few things via bluetooth but you have to be running the basic windows bluetooth drivers. If you have Toshiba or Widcomm or any other brand of drivers it won't work.

Even if you get it working and can connect to desktop manager with bluetooth you won't be able to transfer files. You'll be able to sync and make backups. Also, you can use as a modem via bluetooth.

That's so ridiculous. I thought that BlackBerries were supposed to be able to pretty much do everything a standard phone could do, and it can't even transfer files from a computer via bluetooth?

*Shakes head* I'm about to go back to my w580i.

Did you do any research to find out specifically if the BB could do that prior to purchasing it? From your question, I'd guess not.

Sorry it can't do what you want. Sounds like you'd be happier with the other device if that's your criteria for having a device.

You are correct; I did not research that specifically. I did, however, do a cursory bit of knowledge-gathering about this device... I honestly thought
that sending/receiving files via bluetooth was standard on such a phone,
considering I've been able to do that with much-lesser devices, some not
even considered 'smartphones'

Boooooo :(

Eh, so far this device has been really helpful though, so maybe I can get
over this initial disappointment.

Thank you all for your replies!!! :D

Hi,
I have Toshiba driver and I am able to transfer file from my PC to my BB Bold and vice versa without ( i repeat: without) any problem at all.
There are a few things that you need to do before transferring file:
you need to make pair connection between 2 devices. enabling the bluetooth only is not enough.
if you need to transfer to your BB, you need to select Receive Using Bluetooth in the menu of media files/explorer folder.
if you need to transfer file to your PC, you just need to select Send using bluetooth from your Bold and accept it in your PC.
hope this is helpfull.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

That is helpful. However, using the Toshiba drivers won't work with DM. I was never able to get files to transfer, though. Thanks for sharing.

its Vista that is the problem. Vista has no integrated bluetooth drivers...dont ask me why, windows are idiots.
I had a similiar problem and I cant exactly remember how I fixed it.
You have to pair the device with the pc, using DM. somewhere it will say about using bluetooth, and then ask to pair the device. then it will all work fine.

right open DM, go to the options in the top right, and to connection options. then where it says bluetooth click next to it and configure, then add device. make sure the device bluetooth is on. it will find it, pair it and you wont have any problems.

follow the above post on sending and receiving i.e. send from blackberry and click recieve on pc and vice versa.

i think you might want to trade phones with the guy who can't get his bluetooth to turn off.

I have just discovered this forum and obviously this discussion. Having spent hours and hours only to fail in the end to Sync the BB with Desktop Manager using bluetooth, this dicussion has shown a ray of hope. If some of the people can get it done without a problem, the poor BB 9000 is not 'disabled' in its making. Its not potent either.

I will really appreciate someone to come up with a solution to get around this PC to BB on Bluetooth problem.

The error I keep getting (I have used another Ericsson phone as well) is that the BB doesn't support the Service (specially the PIM). Strangely enough, all PIM transfers FROM BB take place without a problem. Its so weird!
