Default Two BES Accounts, One BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys,
I know the easy answer is no, but I understand there is some sort of workaround to make it partially work.

Here is what I need:

BES 1 - Push Email, OTA Calendar, OTA Contacts

BES 2 - Push Email, GAL Lookup

Right now, I am using NotifySync + Native BES to do this, but of course, if I could use Native BES on the Berry for both, this would be much preferred.

I have already given BES 1 (which is currently activated as "native" on my BlackBerry) a customized name.

What is next to accomplish my goal...if it's possible!?

Assuming both BES servers (different domains) are using Exchange, create a second Desktop Manager profile for BES2, cable up via USB and start up Desktop manager with the BES2 profile and after a short period the 2nd activation will start.

It is important to note that the first enterprise activation is the master in terms of IT policy.

If you have a mix of Exchange and Notes (like me) then you will need to have two workstations to do the activations (one for Notes and one with Outlook).

My setup is one Device with my employers BES as the master. Then I have my own personal BES server that runs with Exchange.

Both email/address/calendars sync for both BES servers just as expected. Tasks/Notes come from BES1 only.

Very nice setup but not supported and many BES admins will tell you it's impossible to have a single device on two BES but it isn't.

^Will I have GAL access to both?

Both servers are exchange. Is cable activation required for the second or can I do OTA activation for the second.

BES 1 is my personal, aka, no restrictions on IT policy (so that's best obviously).

Also, if adding a contact, how does it know which address book to sync to?

Like I said, I don't use the Contacts or Calendar @ Work and would hate for that stuff to sync over there.

Likewise, I don't care for GAL lookup (ALP Service Book) on BES 1.

I've always had to to my personal BES by cable only after activation on BES1. Reason being is that I can set the policy not to reject activation if the policy can't be pushed. In my case BES1 would not activate if the policy can't be applied.

There is a drop down to allow you to choose which address book to use, same as when you send an email you have an option to choose which one to send it from.

You can do GAL look up to both BES servers.

BES 1 is my personal BES. This has already been activated.

BES 2 is my work BES. I need to get my BES profile activated at work and then I will cable activate it.

Everything is done!!!

When activating BES 2, it wasn't really an "activation". I plugged my phone into DM, it did its thing for like 5 seconds, and all the service books (named Rogers now) were transferred and active.

What version BES did you do this on for number one?
What version BES did you do this on for number two?
What HH OS do you have?

What IT policy on one?
What IT policy on two?

No Idea..
I'm just the user on BES. I believe BES 1 is on v4.1.6 though.

IT policy for 1 is fully unrestricted.

IT policy for 2 is "inactive". Only the IT policy for BES 1 is used.

There is no activation "process" for the second BES. Service Books are transferred in a matter of seconds and thats it.

I don't think it really matters, I've done this on a variety of Devices and BES mixes.

4.1 BES, Blackberry pro or 4.1 and 5.01. I've had it working on OS 4.5 on an 8830 and most recently my new 9700

FYI, it really does activate on the 2nd BES it just is much faster (just the address books, calendar, mail etc.) as the BES1 is the master.

BES1 IT policy will always apply. The IT policy from BES2 will report as "rejected" so you must ensure that the policy on BES2 is not set to abort activation if it can't apply. Non of the IT policy settings on BES2 will apply the device, only BES1 will be effective.

Default Did you try your desktopmanager ?

Did you try this option:

Hello!

I currently work for a company that is actually two companies due to partnership rules. With that said, I have two email accounts on my network and needed to have access to both of them...

For my purpose, My BlackBerry server is a virtual. I went ahead and created a copy of it and then ran the newsid tool to join it to the domain as "bes2".

Here is how you setup 2 or more BES accounts on 1 blackberry.

1. On both servers, create new blackberry accounts
2. Open Desktop Manager and open the first mail profile.
3. Go to advanced options and email settings
4. Rename the account from "Desktop" to "Company Name or Email domain"
5. Repeat process for the 2nd account
6. Go ahead and wireless activate the first account
7. Then try and activate the 2nd account. You will be prompted to wipe data. Say no
8. Finish activation and you now have 2 bes accounts on 1 blackberry.

Make sure to not skip step #4. I tried manually adjusting the tables of the bes db and it didn't work. You must rename the accounts to something different or the first account will be overwritten because you cannot have two "desktop" profiles on a BlackBerry. I believe that the profile info is added to the mailbox and not the BlackBerry database, so you must use Desktop Manager.

If you have any questions please let me know.

I'm curious if you switch Options> Advanced Options> Default Services to your second BES will it give you the option for GAL#2? Also what about going to E.A. is there 2 BES listed? wondering if you turn wireless sync off for BES1 here if you get GAL2? Sorry no experience in this but just throwing brain farts out there to maybe jog thinking to a solution.

Very curious about this setup.

Default Desktop profile

I am trying to find this Desktop profile in DM, im running 5.0.1 and I cant seem to find it. Can anyone guide me to these advanced options. I only see the device connected then 5 tabs (Media, Application Loader, Backup and Restore, Device Switch Wizard, and Syncronize.) with Options and Help drop downs to the right.. I dont see where you see email profiles to rename it.

Any help?
