Default restoring from an 8100

Please Login to Remove!

i just got my kickstart and im trying to restore all the stuff from my 8100 with the desktop manager and it is not working for some reason does any one have any suggestions

You can use the switch device wizard.

Or just make a backup of the 8100 and restore that backup to the 8220.

the restore i put all the stuff from the 8100 along time ago and i got rid of it then i plugged my 8220 and tried to restore it and its not showing on my phone

Plug in new BB.

Open DM.

Go to Backup/Restore and choose Restore

Go up to the file menu at the top left of DM and choose Open

Browse to where you stored the .ipd backup file. Double click on it.

That should restore that file to your new phone.


If you got rid of the old phone then switch device wizard is out.

Does your backup actually contain any data? Hopefully, you made the backup before wiping the old device.

yea it has all 789 of my messages and all of my contacts but it will just not show up on my phone

So, after you restore the data, the right side pane (device side) shows that the 789 messages are on the device?

now on that side it didnt show i had it, but when the sync is finished it shows no errors or anything

When you open the file to restore, does it show the 789 messages on the left side? Try going to "Advanced" and try moving over just the messages and the Address book.

If they don't show on the right side then the data is NOT getting to the phone.
