Default Dictonary / suretype is stupid on this thing.....

Please Login to Remove!

I had the 8100 and 8130 Pearl before this Flip....

with the Pearls i could go in and add or delete words the phone learned somehow.

well this thing is pissing me off because when using suretype it knows words i never put in and it brings up words that mean absolutely nothing at all.

with the Pearls i could go in a delete mislearned words.

Cant seem to do that no matter how hard i look on this Flip...

anyone have any ideas? i think i figureed out how to added words but not delete wrong words...

mine comes up blank too...
I've resorted to backup>wipe>restore everything but custom words, auto text and custom dictionary. if someone has a better workaround please advise.

You can turn off the predictive text and continue to use suretype without having it predict words. Go to Options >Language.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

That's what the "custom wordlist" is for.

Are you referring to the words that are "precicted?". You can turn that off under Options >Language

I've found that if I just type away I do better with the predictive text, also the more you use it, the smarter it gets! It seems to update the library and then predict those words more effectively each time in the future. Dave

There's a list of words on the Flip that it learns and you can't access. So when you misspell a word once, it's stored in this unaccessible list FOREVER. It's not in custom dictionary, and there's nothing else that looks like you can edit...

You can edit words (add new ones) in Auto Text... and just replace the misspell word for the correct one..

This way if you type "exampel" just add that misspelled word and replace with "example" it will automatically write that word over the other one... unless you hit delete right after writing it

Has anyone figured out how to edit the custom dictionary yet? The original poster is correct. Even if there is a way to edit, it's certainly not intuitive.

Anyone?

Also, I'm guessing the original poster and I both have the Custom Dictionary screen under Options. However, when I go to it, it's blank. Yet, there are plenty of nonsensical words that show up when I'm using Suretype. So, if our Custom Dictionary is blank, how do we get access to those nonsensical words.

It's as if the Custom Dictionary points to a folder incorrectly. As if our dictionary points to "Blackberry/Custom".... but it should be pointed to "Blackberry/Suretype/Custom." Something like that!!!! (I made up the 'folders'!)
