Question Bold 9900 - unlocked, form T Mobile

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought an unlocked Bold 9900. Originally branded for T Mobile.
Will this be compatible in Mexico with Telcel´s 3G?

Thanks for your help.

There is no reason for an unlocked 3G handset not to operate on a different 3G network for voice and text (some rare exceptions apply). For blackberry services now you may need to contact Telcel and ask if they offer a blackberry data plan.

According to this BlackBerry lanza su nuevo Bold 9900 - Estilo - CNNExpansion.com the handset would be available on your carrier in a couple of weeks.

TMobile uses different 3G frequencies than Telcel.

I guess that is the "rare exception" the-economist referred to. Yes, T-Mobile uses different 3G radio frequencies. You will get EDGE on Telcel. Voice, text and data will work, but at EDGE speeds and not 3G.

Thanks.... I am now realizing that Motorcycle Mama´s comment is true.

Is there a way to change this on my (T Mobile) BB?
