You'd be surprised the number of times my BB messes up and our IT dept (who is also in charge of troubleshooting our bb) needs to use my phone.
I've had issues where it automatically wiped out, etc.
I was also told by the IT dept that we cannot change our passwords. This was in an email that was sent from an upper manager.
Also, if I am somewhere and my boss/collegue needs to use my phone, they can do so with ease since the password in generic.
When I was given the phone, I had a huge list of things that I had to do and could not change.
