Here's one i found today, it's called JabpLite it's a personal finance manager, i've used eCheckRegister and others that i had to pay for from Handigo and JabpLite is the best plus it's free. The interface is great compaired to eCheckRegister and has alot of features that eCheckRegister didn't that makes it easy to use, such as only allowing numbers in the amount fields on transactions or showing your account balance in realtime. Anyways check it out here:

http://www.freepoc.org/viewapp.php?id=58

To install it go to http://www.freepoc.org/dowload/midp2 from your blackberry browser and download japdlite.jar and let it install it takes a couple minutes but works great on my 7520. Thanks

HelloWorld Browser lets you use Google Maps on your blackberry.

New Features in 3.1:

- Search for business'
- Markers indicate your search results on the screen.

The Remote Desktop for Mobiles on the other hand does, it makes a tiny version of your desktop, and it even has a zoom tool to help you read. I recommend it hands down and believe me 30 is not a lot to spend for this fumctionality. I am a systems admin, and the first day i used while on vacation saved me a trip to the office from 3 hrs away.

This is their link:

You can download a trial version and test it first. Good luck.

I was super stoked on this, until I read the blackberry site about my Nextel 7520. I found this:

GSM/GPRS Networks
GSM™/GPRS networks allow you to maintain a virtual connection to the wireless network for data services. GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a packet switched network, designed for wide-area data communication and GSM offers high quality mobile voice services. GSM/GPRS networks are operated by Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile in the United States, and by Rogers™ Wireless in Canada.

Devices that operate on GSM/GPRS networks: BlackBerry 5810, BlackBerry 6210, BlackBerry 6710, BlackBerry 6230, BlackBerry 6280, BlackBerry 7100g, BlackBerry 7100r, BlackBerry 7100t, BlackBerry 7210, BlackBerry 7230, BlackBerry 7280, BlackBerry 7290, BlackBerry 7730, BlackBerry 7780.

Mike Network
The Mike™ Network uses a packet-based platform, the integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN™) technology. This all-digital technology is designed to provide high quality sound and trasmission nationwide. The Mike Network is operated by TELUS in Canada.

Devices that operate on the Mike Network: BlackBerry 7520, BlackBerry 7510.

Can someone confirm for me that this app will NOT work on my Nextel 7520 because it uses iDEN and not GSM/GPRS? Thanks.

Also, anybody know of this kind of app that will work with iDEN? I am a systems admin as well and this kind of app would be awesome.

Thanks.

Default Remote control

Have you ever used Remote Desktop for Mobiles? I'm trying to get this software to work and so far no luck. I loaded the software and have BB unlimited from Cingular. Every time I try to connect, I get a Connection error message. This software is mage by zzzmobiles.com.

Thanks for your time and all the info ya'll post on BBforums.

Thanks.

Unhappy Error messages with 8700c

I picked up my new 8700c yesterday and it is generating error messages that I didnt receive with the 7290. I added PocketDay as a third party app and I am receiving a message that reads, PocketDay is attempting to connect to a location inside and outside the firewall which is not allowed by my IT policy (I am running BES). I ran this third party on my 7290 without any problems. I tried replicating the settings from the 7290 without success.

The second issue is an error message that reads, uncaught exception: net.rim.vm.too many threads.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

"inside and outside" message is caused by "split-pipe" policy of BES. The idea is that an app that is using BES to connect, cannot connect to WAP/internet, and vice versa. YOu probably tried to connect one way, then changed the settings to another. The only way to get rid of the problem is to re-install the OS on the device.

The second issue I have no idea about, but this is probably due to the fact that 8700 is running 4.1 version of OS and there are some differences.

Sergey...for PocketDay, your communications setting MUST say Internet Connection Default and WAP disabled. This is how it launches. Unless you were running the WAP only version on your 7290...

What are most people using as a list/notes manager on the BB? Is there anything that syncs with a desktop list pgm? Looking for something to manage my lists and notes on both the pc and bb.

Question Works on newer models

Does anyone know if the software Mark surveys in the first post to this thread will work on the newer models, spefically the 7130e and the 8700c?

Thanks,

I tried to download the trial of "Desktop for Mobiles" and had to wipe the handheld once, and tried, once again, to decipher the instructions.

Sorry, but I am only a wannabe geek. The instructions about opening ports and everything else they want you to do to install this software has got me befuddled.

A large part of the problem seems to be the limited command of English that the developers have. Now, that is fine if they aren't trying to market to English-speaking people.

But I am stuck. Can someone recommend something more user-friendly in terms of installation?

Trixie
