I know this app doesn't run on the handheld itself, but try act! 6.0 i use it on my laptop and sync. It syncs both ways so if you add a contact on the bb it will add it to your database on the laptop, and vice versa...It syncs with bb flawlessly.

One good thing of keeping it this way is in case for some reason the dbase gets lost on one machine, it won't on the other, unless you back up daily which i don't...

Another app that comes to mind is GOLDMINE it is sales driven software, so it depends what line of work you are in,as it might be too much software for your particular use. Also the software isn't cheap in comparison to act!, act is around $150 or so, goldmine is several hundred dollars.

I just read finch's input, just note this version of act does not sync wirelessly, i just sync them together via usb...i guess wireless sync is cool but pricier. dunno i guess it depends on your needs,
hope this helps,
j.t.

Default Outlook?

What do you want to do with it? Do you have the full version of outlook?

I've tried them all; ACT, notes, Franklin covey etc....

But since Microsoft has unofficially created a near monopoly, why fight it? (Yes I have a linus machine, but no one else in my family can use it)

There are so many cool and great addons for outlook too. Tell us what you want to do and we can suggest some things.

Default Outlook Add Ons

Sorry to intrude on this but I am trying to use Outlook to control wha e-mail is forwarded to my BB750 on the Nextel network.

Ever find an add on Outlook 2003 to handle this better?

Default Using ACT 6 for a contact manager

Greetings this is my first post to this forum,

I've really enjoyed reading the many, many post. It is helpful to have a place to come and see if my questions are already answered, and to find information I didn't even know I needed. :D
I've looked but either missed the answer or could not find it.

I've just recently purchased a Nextel BB 7520 and think it will become a Great tool. I've been using my palm zire to sync. with act but am glad to have all my PDA info in one place and be able to dial a contact from that source. Well, most of my PDA info. hopefully 3rd party vendors will continue working on giving us more options.

My question is this.
Does anyone know how to make the fields in the BB:

Home Phone 2
Other
DC#
and user fields 1 - 4 show up in Act?

It would be nice to have use of these fields.

I went into the BB address book and made a "test" contact then numbered each field. None of the fields mentioned above were reflected in my act database.

Thus far my sync with ACT 6 has been great with no problems so in addressing the question about finding a database the obvious choice for me was using my existing ACT 6. The intellisync allows me to set the options and then does the rest. The new 7520 came with OS version 4 and already had the option of using ACT as a database.

Thanks for any help.

Default Sync ACT! and BB 4.0 7520

Here is what I have found thus far.

If you want to sync user fields then try Field Mapping and turn them on.

I found that the contact names on the BB were duplicated.

I worked around this myself (Bell Mobility was as in the dark as I am).

In field Mapping if you do not map First name, First/Middle Name, Last Name and Contact the only thing that comes over is the contacts first name. I think the index on Act and BB are reflected in the first name.

So I tried mapping last name only. Now the contacts came over with first name last name in the BB Banner. Fine.

Still trying to get the thing workable mostly as a phone. I have a Pocket PC MUCH BETTER technology if it only had a phone!

Would like to use the PPC to use Bluetooth to dial but not an option on the BB.

Mostly disappointed with the pinheads at Bell Mobility for taking so long to bring their technology into the 90's.

Sync ACT into Outlook then Outlook into your BB.

Take a look at Companion Link for ACT. I use it to sync Act with my 7250 and it works very well. http://www.companionlink.com/faq/bbconfig.html#q1

Default Thanks Dusty

Thank you Dusty, I noticed the software yesterday on a google search and called the company this morning. Seems like a good shot at getting it done.

happy holidays,
