Default Devices Monitoring

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
I had found some posts about device monitoring, but I don't have a clearly idea about the indicated tools. I need to know if the Blackberry monitoring service can test e-mail working. Is it a pro-active tool to find a problem? I listened about a tool called GSX that can test the Send/Receive job automatically, but I need a free solution (if it exists...). Does anybody can help me?

Thanks

Default My Setup

Seeing I can't get the budget for one of the better monitoring tools (Zenprise, Boxtone) I have to make do with a few things that are available:

SNMP - I feed the MIB file into OpenVue for the operations center.

MOM - If you have this, Blackberry has a KB on what event(s) you might want to monitor that could impact BES functionality. When I get in tomorrow I'll dig it out and post it if you can't find it in the RIM Exchange documents.

BES Alerts - I have this on and it sends me alerts for things like SRP drops, connects, services stopping etc. It's handy to have but chatty. Too bad you couldn't granually pick what you want alerts from

BRK - Message Confirmation Service - I have this running on a spare box and it send me a test message every 10 mins. Gives me a good heads up to issues / validation everything is working.

Carrier Alerts - Ask you carrier to provide you with outage alerts. I get them for the entire country and it helps identify spots where there might be a coverage issue if a user calls in. (We are global)

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information! I was searching about Message Confirmation Service, but didn't find anything... How can I use this service? There are some how-to for this?

Go and have a search through the RIM site, lots of good stuff on this there -
