Default Citrix Receiver for BlackBerry Technology Preview

Please Login to Remove!

Released just last night. Anyone trying it out yet?

I'm testing it now, but unable to get apps to launch. Fortunately, I'm the BES and XenApp (Citrix) Admin.

Makes it nice when troubleshooting.

Default Citrix Receiver for BB

Does this require BES? Can't find any solid confirmation of that. I keep getting the error "Mobile data services and network connection must be turned on." No luck over WiFi either. Frustrating.

aydeejones -

I believe it does, as BES proxies the connection, i.e. Blackberry > BES > Citrix Web Server > Citrix App Server. Without BES, there's no way to connect. I don't see a way to configure it to use either Citrix Access Gateway or Citrix Secure Gateway.

WPizzi -

I got it working. I had to create a new "Services Site" on the Web Server, with Secure Access configured as "Direct."

Presume I need to use a new User defined policy to provide the path to the Citrix env't but I can't find this spelled out anywhere. Anyone able to to clear this up for me?

BES 5.0.1 BTW

notclear, your question is not clear.

A better source for info is at the Citrix Forum - Receiver for BlackBerry.

As you suggested I have posted the question on Citrix forum and haven't got a single reply after 2.5 days.

Let me try again here:

I have gone through many threads and tried many ways and still can't make Citrix Receiver works. The following are what I have configured to my best knowledge so far:

There are currently 2 XenApp websites on XenApp5 server are configured, namely:
External - http://citrix1.domain.local/citrix/external, and
Internal - http://citrix1.domain.local/citrix/internal

For Receiver for Blackberry, I have created a XenApp service site:
PNAgent - http://citrix1.domain.local/bb/citrix/pnagent
It is configured to use Direct secure access:
Default - Direct Access Method
Authentication method used is Prompt
(Note: I don't know whether I need to add the BES IP address there?)

On Blackberry Enterprise Server running V.4.1.4 (bundle 143)
From Edit Connection Service, I changed the flow control max kb/connection from 256 to 1024

Also on BES, there is currently No Item on the Proxy Mapping link, so I click on New, then in the Universal Resource Location field I entered http://webinterfaceIPaddress/BB/Citrix/PNAgent:8080/*. - then I restart the Blackberry MDS connection service

From the Bold, I enter the internal IP address of the web interface server like that: ipaddress/BB and then enter login name and domain. After signing on, get the error : "Requested resource could not be found, try again later."

Please help what else I need to do? Thanks.

My BB XenApp Services Site is setup the same -

http://<fully qualified domain name>/BB/Citrix/PNAgent
Server Farms: I have my primary License/Data Collector sever listed. XML Service Port is 8080, Transport type is HTTP
Authentication Methods: I have Prompt (default)
Secure Access: I have Direct
Everything else is the default settings I believe.

On BES, I did not configure any proxy settings.

On the BlackBerry device, for the address, I'm using HostName/BB.

My only difference is I'm running BES 5.0.1 MR3

Are you able to hit any internal intranet sites from your BB browser?

I have the same settings as yours. I also removed the mappigs. Still no luck.

I can't even hit the Intranet (entering http://intranetIPaddress) from my Blackberry! error message: The gateway time-out while waiting for a response from the server.
Error 111 - Connection refused.

So I guess I have to make it to reach the Intranet first. But how?

Thanks.

You're going to need to get your MDS Connection Service either installed or configured correctly. Unfortunately, assisting with MDS is out of my realm.
I would open a new thread on getting your MDS Connection Service working. Then I bet your BB Citrix receiver will work.

After changing Support HTTP Authentication on the MDS CS HTTP tab from False to True, I can now connect to our Intranet. However, I still can't connect to our XenApp published applications via the Citrix Receiver with the same error "Requested resource could not be found, try again later."

Any more suggestions?

Sorry I don't have any.

I would head back to the Citrix forums, since this is primarily a BES forum.

Look through the Citrix Receiver for Blackberry forum, find admins who successfully worked through similar issues and contact them (PM/IM).

IMHO, you're not missing much. I find the app useless and never use it. The interface is "way" too small and the performance is terrible.

Good Luck -
