We are running BES 3.6 sp6, I'm just wodering is it possible to sync blackberrys with out internal address book as well as their own? If so how?

To my knowledge there is no way to synch with the GAL, though someone here may have invented a workaround. What we did was convince some of our database gurus to keep a separate database with contact information on it which is accessible from our Intranet web server.

Since all of our users connect to the BES and have access to that server, it was easy to create a page from which they could search for contact information across the company. Certainly not the same thing as the GAL, but helpful to a lot of people.

There is no sync with the GAL but you have the lookup functionality which ties into the GAL so you shouldn't need to sync it anyway...

Go to your address book, click the wheel and look in the window, there is an option called LOOKUP. This allows you to query your GAL.

When a user composes an email they see the list of addresses available from their synched address book - if they want an address from the GAL that is not in their address book, then they can lookup via the menu in the address list. Type a part of the name they want and click to search and the bb will return a list of possible matches from the GAL. User selects the one they want and off they go!

thanks very much the lookup worked! I thought the lookup just searched theird address book... Doh!
