I upgraded to *.101 and since I have noticed that my keypad and trackball don't light up at all , has anyone else had this issue?

Edit: Nevermind, I just pulled the battery (rather than doing a soft reset) and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Please don't double post your questions in the forum. It's rude and cause people who DO want to help you out some frustration because we don't know which thread you're following etc. etc.

Wirelessly posted

Sorry for that. Was thinking they were related. Will stick to that one thread.

I've gotten a few frezzes in the past week with .101. This seems a lot less stable than .77. RIM really needs an other release so it can get leaked.

Do you recommend staying with .77 or go with .101?

definitely staying with .77
I see nothing better in .101, just an annoying call feature and a messed up media player. I've downgraded back to .77

I'm getting WAY better memory management with .101 than I ever did with .77. Not nearly as much leakage. I can live with the Video Player glitch. I've noticed no other ill effects of using the "latest and greatest".

Did anyone else have notice the confirmation is back to follow a link from email? Other HTML shows so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Hmm..

I'm sure this will be all over the place in the forums soon, but Verizon users running the .101 release (havent tested any of the earlier ones), now have UNLOCKED GPS IN BLACKBERRY MAPS, only.

Thats correct, I currently have a 11 satalite location on my blackberry now, running the .101 software, on verizon, in blackberry maps, only. Yes, again, i have a verizon 8830.

Pearl and Curve users have access too!

See here:
HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - GPS now works with BB Maps on the Pearl/Curve

Quick Updates on GSM mode:

On My BB loaded with 101, in GSM mode this is what I found so far:

Prior to 101, BB service is not working other than using cinet.spcs (sprint)
With 101, BB service is now working, however it is not very stable, GPRS at times drop to gprs especially when switching between BTS.

Incoming voice quality is much improved, clear a better sound overall, however out going voice quality has problems, the otherside reporting drop out and clutter sounds.

GSM reception seems to be poorer than 4.2.0.196

Bluetooth is much improved over 4.2.0.196

So other than Unstable "GPRS", poorer GSM reception and poor outgoing voice quality, it is quite stable. I had to revert back to 4.2.0.196 because of poor outgoing voice quality.

CDMA mode is solid, it seems like RIM is making major changes in GSM Radio firmware in version 101 as compared to 4.2.0.196. if these gsm issues are solved, It should be a released candidate ??

it is against forum rules to post links to RIM beta BlackBerry OSes. Try your favorite Internet search engine.
