Default Desktop Manager 6.0 add-in sync missing

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know if the feature for syncing add-ins (specifically: DataVault) has been removed from DM 6.0?
I cannot find the configuration options for it anywhere and it has been there in all previous releases.
I have reinstalled the Datavault desktop software several times with the latest version, 4.6.1 as per an outdated FAQ but no luck.

This will be a show stopper for me if I cannot resolve it.

Any insight?

Open DM6 while connected to your device > Applications > it will take a min to read your on-device apps and those only installed to your PC and make a comparison.
Then, your choice in the listing of the apps to ADD or REMOVE is the + in the far right column named ACTION.

Thanks very much for the attempt but I think you misunderstood the problem...it is not that the application is not installed on my BB but that it does not sync with its desktop component (much like Outlook syncing). This would sync the BB app's database (Datavault in this case) with the application's desktop component.

All other versions of DM had an option in the syncing menus to configure 3rd party syncing apps but this option is not present (at least not that I can see) in DM 6.0.

I have the same problem and have not figured out a resolution yet. Ascendo is investigating for me they say. I use Datavault heavily and I can't believe that RIM would disable this option.

Ascendo is looking in to it for me, but it appears to be a Blackberry issue.

Ascendo DataVault - Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

WiFi sync seems to work, albeit a little bit clunky

I unfortunately can't even try OTA sync because there is no sync option on the phone side for some reason. I have a "reset after sync" option, but no plain old "sync" option. I had it and used it with my Bold 9700 but now with the 9800 it is not listed.

Re-downloaded DataVault and re-installed. Now I can at least OTA Sync.

Yes I had to update both Datavault apps (desktop and BB) to get OTA sync working.

Wonder why RIM cut out the feature.. Of course Data Vault is the only app I know of that used it as an Add-On.

Default Ascendo

Blackberry definitely left Ascendo scrambling by removing the feature. It will be interesting to see if Ascendo pursues a solution or simply leaves it at an OTA option.

Thanks for posting your updates. I am now following Ascendo on Twitter as they promise to post an update if/when this is resolved.
I didn't realize that Datavault could sync over WIFI so I will try that next.

Cheers!

I already posted my issue in the other thread on Desktop Manager T 6.0... but I guess this area is more appropriate.

The add-in option appears if you run the 6.0 update over the 5.0. -- If installed "fresh" the add-in sync option does not appear.

Weird, but it works. I tested it twice. -- now I can sync eWallet with no problem. I hope this helps.

Default Ascendo

I originally loaded 6.0 over 5.0 and lost the sync option. I did not even have the OTA sync option at that point either. I uninstalled 6.0 and installed it fresh as well as reinstalling Ascendo DataVault fresh and got the OTA sync option back at least. OTA is working fine so I will leave it as is for now.

Default fix released

Ascendo just released a new version, 4.7.1, to fix this very problem.

On the brightside, I have to say that this forced me to check out both wifi OTA syncing and email syncing with DataVault and both work very well. I never knew these options existed even though I have been using it daily for over 3 years. It is a great product and the fact that they stepped up quickly and fixed an issue caused by RIM speaks highly of the quality of their customer support.

I'm getting this error when installing DataVault 4.7.1

DataVault.exe - Entry point not found
The procedure entry point Wow64DisableWow64FsRedirection could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

Anyone else having this problem?

Just as an update, I was able to go back to DataVault 4.6.1 and DM 5.0 (I think I will stay here)

2nd update - Sent an email to Ascendo and they allready provided an update that now works!! Great support from Ascendo!!

Default Had the same problem

I had the same problem. I emailed Ascendo with the problem info and they sent me a link with a new build the same day that resolved the issue.

Ok - it syncs now Anyone know how/where to config DM so it does this automatically on device connection? You can do it for media and organiser and time/date, but can it still be set for add-ins too?

Default DataVault Syncs again under 6.0

There is something funny (ah, technically flawed) with the new Desktop 6.0 but these steps worked for me.

First, open a problem ticket with Ascendo directly and request the Beta 4.7.1 DataVault Desktop application. That is what they suggested as a fix. Oddly, after running that upgrade DataVault appears as an ADD-IN but will not function.

Second, rerun the install for BB Desktop 6.0 and select Repair. Mine ran uneventfully.

Third, restart (you might need to reboot) BB desktop 6.0. DataVault will appear and sync normally from the ADD-IN page.

There was an odd situation where the info screen for DataVault (off the ADD-IN page) displayed data from another Ascendo application, then later "corrected" itself. I also receive BB 6.0 errors when the application is ended. So, there appears to be some funny things in 6.0 but give this a try to have DataVault "reappear".
