Default Desktop Redirector : Help !

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I'm new here and not a specialist of BlackBerry devices... at all!
Because of my function (IT Manager for small business), I have to configure some of these.

I would understand how the blackberry redirector works.

In our case, the exchange server is configured with a POP connector. No BES are installed. The blackberry service (don't know the name) is downloading e-mails directly from the POP account. That is working great!

On the desktop of the concerned person, I've installed the BB desktop manager with the desktop redirector. The only reason of doing that is the internal mails.

So, when the person is out of office, his secretary turn the computer on and normally, if I understand the procedure, the redirector is supposed to send e-mails through the internet to the handheld.

My client is telling me that he is not always (or very later) receiving internal e-mails. I've checked the Redirector : pending to handheld : 56 - Forwarded : 223.

Could someone explain me how it works in my case ? When the redirector will transmit the pending emails ? What are the conditions to have redirector transfering in real time the internal email from his workstation ? Any explanation why he receiving very later and why messages state stay to pending in the redirector ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Redirector is extremely unreliable in my experience. I highly recommend not using it. IIRC, support for it will be discontinued anyway...

Thank you for your reply.

What do you recommand as alternative ?

Because in our case, buying and installing BES for only one handheld is... how can I say... useless ?

what I've done is create a rule to forward all my work mail to my blackberry BIS email address. In my case [email address]. Sign into your BIS account and change the reply to address to your work email and you'll be all set. When emailing people they will only see your work email address. Granted it will not be synced, but you will still receive your mail. Nothing a few check marks and "mark selected as read" wont fix next time you sign onto your computer.

Have the end user do a hard reset (Battery pull while the device is on).

Thanks guys.

No, we never do a Hard Reset. Do we loose everything ?

Thanks for the solution about "Outlook Rule" and forwarding to blackberry address.
But I'm Sorry, I really don't know his blackberry address. How can I check that?

Isn't there a free version of BES for a single user?

appearantly, BES express has been replaced by BlackBerry Professionnal Software Express.

Could anyone tell me more about installation, configuration and use of that software ?

I don't want to present a solution to my customer whitout any feedback.

Anyway, thank you for replies

Hard Reset = Pull the battery while the device is on. You may also wish to udpate the host routing tables to make sure registration is current.
