Default Sync to Outlook Express??

Please Login to Remove!

Got this from another forum page, but am posting it here as it concerns my BB 7320

I have the opposite problem with a BB7230. All my messages are in Outlook Express which is my default E-mail handler, but I also have Outlook installed on my computer (cos the only thing I like about is the calendar function), but with no accounts or messages in it.

When I start Desktop Manager v 4.3, I only get the option to use Outlook. Anyone tell me how to make it see Outlook Express? (Would prefer not to be forced to use Outlook.)

Additionally, my display only shows 'gprs' in lower case letters, so does that mean my contract with the provider does not allow e-mails & internet, or does it only mean that I haven't done 'enterprise activation' yet??

Either way I wouldn't use DM 4.3 it has to many problems right now, downgrade to 4.2.2. This should fix your problem.

You need a BB data paln for email, but not to sync with the computer.

OK, I've deinstalled 4.3 (the one with the black background, right??) and reinstalled 4.2.2.14 [Apr 26 2007] (in the normal Windows white background window).

Unfortunately, this seems to have other bugs (although I could see no probs with 4.3 apart from the OE issue) such as preventing my USB mouse from working, even after reboot and scanning in Device Manager for new PnP devices.

Also, when I try to sync I get the message "The specified Intellisync configuration is invalid" and there seems no option to choose Outlook Express.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by 'a plan for email, but not to sync with the computer'. Please explain.

Well, I downgraded back to Desktop Manager 3.6.1.23 (on the CD that came with the BB) and that seems to be more user-friendly and in general works better and I am able to select OE, for the address book at least.

Now I need to do this 'data plan' thing for e-mails. I found another post about it on this forum but at the moment the understanding of it is beyond me. (If I had one more brain cell, it would be lonely.)

I'm not so bothered about being able to send e-mails from my BB (I guess I have to pay more to my service provider for that) but it would be nice to have record of my messages on my device before I leave home in the morning so I can refer to them while I'm away from the computer.
