That might be a prob with your OS. I would upgrade to the latest one and then do a hard reset.

Under Options >Security Settings >General Settings you probably have "allow outgoing calls while locked" set to "yes." It's merely allowing you to make an outgoing call.

is there a way to disable having to hit * <send> when you click unlock from the screen that comes up when you click the trackball? It's annoying to tell it to unlock twice.

I agree I hate having to tell the phone to unlock twice after removing it from the holster.

No, that's just the way the feature is set up. With the old BB's you could click the trackwheel twice to unlock. However, I guess they figured you might inadvertantly press the trackball twice while it's in your pocket, and unlock the BB by accident. You have to do the *-Send thing. However, if you set a password to unlock then you can push the trackball twice, enter the password and it will unlock.

Actually, don't hit the track ball. Just press * <send> to unlock.

Your aren't "unlocking it twice" anyway. You press the trackball to get the old screen (Unlock, Emergency Call, Cancel) - when your press the trackball again (while Unlock is highlighted), it doesn't accept the keystroke, and tells you the phone is locked, Hit * then <send> to unlock. The other buttons work fine - Emergency Call and Cancel.

So, forget the Trackball Unlock - jut press any key to get the phone out of standby, then press * then <send> to unlock...

You can also lock the keypad without using the Mute key to put it into standby. Press and hold the * button for a few seconds and the keyboard will lock.
