Now if they would only offer a BES like wireless sync for free, that would be sweet.

How do you import the BES calendar into the Google calendar? Is there an "import" function? It does not seem to automatically find my regular BB calendar and import the data.

Google likes to give everything that comes thru them to the federal government. There's just an uneasy feeling that my calendar would wind up who knows where. I would rather have all my contacts and calendar on my computer instead of some server somewhere.

Just my two cents

Can you list actual sources for this claim? I've never heard of them releasing anything freely to the US government.

from what I read, google was fighting with the federal government about releasing information. Not sure what the end result was.

Google Announces Agreement to Acquire DoubleClick: On April 13, 2007, Google announced an agreement to acquire online advertising giant DoubleClick, Inc. for $3.1 billion. See Google's Press Release on the agreement. Google has already expressed an intent to merge data from Google and DoubleClick to profile and target Internet users.

On April 20, 2007, EPIC, CDD, and US PIRG filed a complaint (pdf) with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), urging the Commission to open an investigation into the proposed acquisition of DoubleClick by Google. The groups urged the FTC to assesses the ability of Google to record, analyze, track, and profile the activities of Internet users with data that is both personally identifiable and data that is not personally identifiable. The groups stressed that the increased collection of personal information of Internet users by Internet advertisers poses far-reaching privacy concerns that the FTC should address. The groups further noted that Google fails to follow previously agreed upon standards for online advertising conduct, and urged the FTC to to require Google to publicly present a plan to comply with these standards. Pending the resolution of these and other issues, EPIC encouraged the FTC to halt the acquisition.

Don't blame google, as a famous whiltleblower for AT&T has claimed, the NSA keeps close tabs on all internet traffic as it moves on the backbone.

/rant start

Thomas Jefferson gave us the answer:

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

/rant over
